The September 8 update has arrived for Madden NFL 23, and here is the full list of changes and fixes added with this patch. The title was released on August 19, 2022 and to be honest it was disappointing. Players reported several issues and bugs after the game launched. It appears that EA heard these complaints and released a major update today. So, here’s everything with the new Madden NFL 23 September 8 update.
Madden NFL September 23 8 Update Patch Notes
Gameplay updates
- Align with pass-block ‘handoff’ logic to allow pass-blockers to transfer rushers to adjacent pass-blockers during a defensive attack attempt when attacking a single rusher.
- Fixed an issue that caused a specific sanding move to be too powerful and frequent by user-controlled pass rushers
- Fixed a run-block targeting issue where the correct tackle would not block the defending end on Gun Spread Y-Slot Wk HB Base vs. specific defensive alignments
- Fixed a run-block targeting issue that caused the DE to remain unblocked on Singleback Bunch Quick Pitch vs. Specific Defensive Alignments
- Tune into run-blocker chase to improve blocking path against user-controlled defenders to better accommodate the stack of user LB behind DLs and embrasures
- Tune into pass-block moves to tie pass-blockers earlier to rushers moving near the line of scrimmage at the snap
- DEV Note: This tuning should prevent the lineman from moving himself out of position to block blitzers and give a better prediction of the direction of movement of the rushers.
- Tune to improve the prediction of pass blocks to better anticipate the rusher’s direction when they come out of their stance and/or move very slowly
- Fixed an issue that could cause the TE to get incorrect hot routes after using specific pre-snap moves in Bunch formations
- Tuning to reduce match distance on ‘Blow-Up Blocker’ interactions for user-controlled defenders
- Tune into ball carrier skill moves to reduce drastic speed changes
- Tune to reduce the chance of fumbles for playing WR in HB position
- DEV Note: In playbook packs where a WR is intentionally placed in the HB position, such as those in the 49ers and Rams playbooks, the risk of clumsiness is too great. Playing out of position will still carry a greater chance of fumbles than not, but it will no longer be as much of a risk based on these real-life playbook packs that players like 49ers WR Deebo Samuel are using.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused a player to lop off the ground after a sideline catch
- Tune to cover 4 quarter CBs to better cover the external streak routes in Trips formations
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused receivers to step out of the back of the end zone while executing their routes, leading to illegal touch penalties
- Alignment to give elite receivers more separation vs defensive backs in man-press
- Tuning to better maintain momentum of WRs during mid-air collisions with defensive backs
- Fixed an issue that caused HB wheel routes to beat Cover 1/Man Coverage too often
- Tune to reduce the chance of tipped passes catching
- Tuning to make AI QB’s user-controlled CBs and LBs more frequent in light of franchise player-locked gameplay
- Various animation updates for first-down celebrations pointing in the wrong direction
- Updated Nickel Alignment Position in Nickel and Dime Cover 2 Man Games vs. forest formations
- The Detroit Lions NFL Live Playbook has been updated to a 4-3 Defense book and added three 4-3 formations to Lion’s Standard Defense Book.
Madden NFL 23 Update: Franchise Updates
- Fixed an issue where transactions between users in online leagues would not work
- Fixed an issue where CPU teams were not using the franchise tag correctly
- DEV Note: While significantly improved, there will be rare instances where players will be tagged directly under what is considered “Elite”.
- Tuned QB simulation stats to reduce the number of plays in games to lower the overall player and team stats across the league.
- Tuned QB Regression
- DEV Note: We noticed that as the seasons went on, there would be way too many highly rated QBs in the league compared to the base rosters. To counter this, we slightly increased the QB regression as they age. This, coupled with the tuning of the QB Sim stats, should result in a distribution similar to basic rosters as you get deeper into the franchise.
- Matched Contract Acceptance Factors/Rates
- DEV Note: This tune was meant to tackle some edge case exploits; this shouldn’t have a major impact on Re-Sign or Free Agency in general.
- Fixed an issue where Free Agency’s offer bars were not displayed in order
- Fixed an issue where parts of the Free Agency offer bars would sometimes appear white
- Fixed an issue where the Free Agency offer bars would sometimes not show after a contract offer
- Fixed an issue where the front-end difficulty was not carried over to the franchise
- Fixed an issue where news stories incorrectly referred to injuries sustained during training as end-of-season injuries
- Fixed an issue where injured players were sometimes included in trade packs
- Fixed an issue where completed goals were showing as incomplete
- Fixed an issue where the reorder popup remained on the screen after reordering prospects on your favorites list
- Fixed a crash when withdrawing an offer during Re-sign
- Fixed an issue where the background would turn gray when navigating through menus instead of the team color
- Fixed an issue where long usernames overlap in the score ticker
- Text added to the player card for players without tags
- Fixed an issue with snapshots where the default was week 1 instead of the current week
- Fixed an issue where users could not simulate past the 2051 Pro Bowl
- Fixed an issue where if a Commissioner advanced the week at the same time a user joined, the Commissioner would be locked out and the newly joined user would be able to advance the competition
- Fixed an issue that caused Kansas City Chiefs assets to appear in the ‘QB Check In’ scenario after a Fantasy Draft.
Face of the Franchise Updates
- Fixed an issue where duplicate versions of a coach were appearing in a side activity practice drill.
- Fixed an issue where dual helmets were showing up in side activity practice drills.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented SMS scenarios from displaying in the ‘Leadership’ Side Activity scenario.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused the apartment environment to appear within the team facility scenario.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented the Level Up animation from displaying the correct level in the flow when exiting a game.
- Fixed an issue where Weekly Goals were showing under the wrong difficulty for the Wide Receiver position.
- Fixed a rare issue that caused the avatar to reset to its default visual settings after starting a second save of the file.
- Fixed an issue that prevented REP from updating on the level widget after exiting side activities.
- Fixed an issue causing the FOTF League menu to appear in the main menu after a long time.
- Fixed an issue causing drive targets to not display in the correct state on the Super Sim screen.
- General stability improvements
Madden Ultimate Team Updates
- Rewards earned from completed objectives in a Field Pass will now continue to appear in the UI instead of disappearing.
- Fixed an issue where the wrong art was visually displayed in the Field Pass reward track.
- Background images for Ultimate Challenges should now be displayed.
- Numerous solutions when comparing items.
- Using “Reset All Filters” will now clear “Search by Name”
- Fixed an issue where the focus status within the field pass was incorrectly displayed when browsing categories.
- Numerous alignment, scaling, font and other misc. UI solutions.
- Numerous improvements to overall stability.
Madden NFL 23 Update: The Yard Updates
- Fixed a rare issue that caused users to be incorrectly removed from online games due to excessive lag in Yard games
