Hogwarts Legacy will feature an exclusive PlayStation quest in Haunted Hogsmeade, as revealed in the September 2022 State of Play.

The past few weeks have been exciting for all of us here at Avalanche Software. We have announced that Hogwarts Legacy will launch on February 10, 2023. We’ve officially opened the pre-orders and revealed the different editions you can get. And we set the mood with a trailer that gives you a glimpse of just how dark Hogwarts Legacy can get as you explore what lurks in the shadows.
We also attended the Wizarding World’s Back to Hogwarts celebration to announce the much sought-after opportunity to bring your house and wand into play by bringing your Harry Potter Fan Club and Warner Bros. Linking games accounts, which also unlock exclusive fan cosmetics. Without a doubt, I want to be sorted seamlessly into Slytherin in the game, along with my wand – a 14-inch bendable beechwood with a unicorn hair core, if you were wondering.
Before we get into any new announcements, I’d like to talk a little bit about Sebastian Sallow’s Dark Legacy.
The Dark Legacy of Sebastian Sallow
Sebastian quickly became a beloved character since he was first revealed as a classmate in the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play last March. We’re excited about the response to this charismatic Slytherin. If you’re a fan of Sebastian, you’re not alone. Almost everyone at Avalanche also loves Sebastian. Creating Sebastian Sallow’s Dark Legacy trailer gave us the opportunity to show a darker side to Hogwarts Legacy, while giving you another look at Seb’s — as we’ve come to call him in the studio — story.
After we showed Avada Kedavra in March, many of you wondered if the other Unforgiveable Curses would be in the game. This trailer highlights the Cruciatus Curse in an ominous decision you must make as a player. Are you the one who casts Crucio (the torture curse) on your friend, or do you let Sebastian cast it on you? What circumstances lead you to this moment? Carrying out Seb’s companion quest will put you in these harrowing situations where no choice is easy.
Plus, Sebastian’s companion, like Natsai and Poppy’s, is completely optional. Yet it explores an ever-present question about the Dark Arts; are they still bad if they can save a life? When we came up with the theme for this trailer, we knew we wanted it to focus on the darker elements of the game, and Sebastian’s story jumped right to the top of the list.
The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop
And we’re not done yet. Today we also take a look at the PlayStation-exclusive quest, The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. Built into the base game, this mysterious quest can be discovered by any witch or wizard playing on PlayStation.
Cassandra Mason has a shop to sell you in Hogsmeade, but not all is as it seems in this run-down establishment. What sinister secrets lie beneath Mrs. Mason’s shop, and why was she so eager to sell them? That’s a mystery that Hogwarts Legacy players will discover in the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest available exclusively on PlayStation platforms.
While I don’t want to go into too much detail about the strange things that await players below the store, overcoming these challenges will reward you with your very own store where you can sell items and equipment at better prices than anywhere else, and the retailer’s Cosmetic Set, a proper outfit for the enterprising Hogwarts student.
In addition, pre-ordering a PS4 or PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy will give you access to the recipe for Felix Felicis potions. Felix Felicis is a lucky potion that reveals equipment chests on the mini-map for one in-game day, giving you a pretty lucky day on your journey as you explore Hogwarts and the surrounding areas. However, this is just the recipe. You’ll still need to make the most of your Potion classes and the Room of Requirement potion stations to brew this bottle of liquid happiness.
By choosing one of our upgraded editions of Hogwarts Legacy, players gain access to additional in-game cosmetics, including the only way to get a flying Thestral mount in-game. The Digital Deluxe Edition also has 72 hours of early access and a cross-gen digital upgrade so you can upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5. All pre-orders for Hogwarts Legacy will receive the Onyx Hippogriff mount.
