Disney Dreamlight Valley is the laid-back Animal Crossing-esque experience Disney fans have always dreamed of, where you can build an idyllic village and hang out with characters like Mickey, Wall-E, Belle, and many more. If you really want to restore Dreamlight Valley to its former glory, you will of course need a lot of money, called Star Coins in the game.
While Dreamlight is used to open new areas of the map, Star Coins are used to buy new clothes, furniture, open new buildings, and much more. With that in mind, here are a few tips to get your money off to a good start in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Cleaning up night thorns
When you first arrive in Dreamlight Valley, the whole place will be infested with dark thorns, and so will each subsequent area you unlock. One of your first assignments should be to remove the thorns, not only because they make it hard to get by, but because they can also yield a good amount of Star Coins. To remove a thorn, just walk up to it and press X on PlayStation, A on Xbox, or LMB on PC to use magic.
Usually a thorn will give you a small amount of Star Coins, but sometimes, if you’re lucky, they’ll drop a chest that yields even more or some sort of resource like rocks. If you collect more resources than you need, you can easily sell resources to Goofy at his booth for more money. Every little bit helps.
Mine and sell gems
Your main way of making Star Coins is by collecting rare resources and selling them to Goofy. One of the best sources for this is minerals, which are extracted from the rocks along the walls of Dreamlight Valley. Each gem will give you 200-300 Star Coinsand sometimes you get a gem from even greater rarity yielding 700-900 coins.
Look for the black rocks that sit against the cliffs and the wall. If you don’t see gems sticking out of the rock, it doesn’t mean you won’t find them. Once you reach Friendship Level 2 with any character, you can choose a skill they want so make sure at least one friend has the mining skill. Then just talk to the character and choose the dialogue option that says “We need to hang out” to take them along.
Catching and selling fish
Fishing can be an even easier way to make money than mining because you can always catch fish. Fishing is possible in the meadow area near the square, and in almost any area that you can open later. However, Dazzle Beach is the best place to head out earlybecause it only costs 1,000 Dreamlight to open.
Instead of just casting your line all over the water, aim for the circle of bubbles in the water. Hold X, A or LMB to make your casting spot move and aim it anywhere in the circle of bubbles. Also pay attention bubble circles that are blue or orangebecause those are rarer fish that will sell for even more money.
For example, if you unlocked Dazzle Beach, each orange circle will yield a swordfish, which will sell for 750 Star Coins each. Of course, you can also use fish in cooking recipes, so you may want to hold on to at least a few and sell the rest.
Complete Remy’s quest and cook expensive food
Another great way to earn some extra money is by make four or five star meals, which are then sold for quite a few Star Coins at Goofy’s booth. While you can technically make good meals with any number of ingredients, it’s easier if you go to the Ratatioulle rich and get Remy in your village.
Early in the story, you can choose one of three realms to visit for free, including Ratatouille. The other two realms can still be visited by paying 3,000 Dreamlight, but you better choose Ratatioulle first.
Once you’ve brought Remy to Dreamlight Valley and helped him open his restaurant, you’ll be able to purchase valuable ingredients such as butter, cheese, milk, and eggs, which will help you create even better, more valuable recipes. Take advantage of these ingredients and use them to create top-notch recipes that can be sold for a tidy profit.
