Fans of the franchise have been waiting for a new story to delve into, and thankfully they have a few details about some of the returning cast members. One of the main characters in the series, Lilith, makes a comeback as the main antagonist in Diablo 4, but much more is possible. Other well-known demonic characters from diabloLilith’s mythology should join Lilith in destroying Sanctuary.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The eternal battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells continues in Sanctuary. The stage that serves as the battlefield between angels and demons was originally turned into a bloodbath by none other than Lilith. Now Lilith and her minions are trampling humans again, and the Nephalem must save Sanctuary from another demonic invasion. The reintroduction of Lilith in Diablo 4after they haven’t played a major role since then Diablo 2makes the ground fertile for other interesting demonic comebacks.

Less Evil in Diablo

The Lesser Evils are an important part of diablo lore. They cleverly close the gap between the Burning Hells and Sanctuary. Like banished demons, they inhabited Sanctuary while the Prime Evils planned their next step in the eternal conflict. Some of these demons have become beloved characters, perhaps even surpassing the Prime Evils themselves. While Belial returns in Diablo 3 as Act Boss, alongside The Butcher, a couple of Belial’s Lesser Evil brethren have been waiting in the shadows for a while to be reintroduced.

One of the Diablo 2The most infamous battles are the First Act Boss, Andariel. While the Maiden of Anguish was defeated in Diablo 2The return of one of the franchise’s few female demons has been all but confirmed after an appearance on Diablo 4 Rogue trailer. Andariel, the ruler of the realm of fear, is one of the more recognizable characters from Diablo 2. She’s also Lilith’s aunt, which could bring an interesting dynamic to the new storyline. While Andariel is not personally present in Diablo 3she was sealed in the Black Soulstone with the other Greater Evils.

Mechanically one of the most challenging Diablo 2 bosses, Duriel could be another Lesser Evil bought back by Blizzard. The twin brother of Andariel and Lilith’s uncle, he played an important role in Diablo 2and would be a great companion for Andariel in Diablo 4. The Lord of Pain was the guardian of the tomb of Tal Rasha, in which Tyrael was imprisoned. This prison was founded by Baal, who will probably reappear. After all, he is part of almost everything diablo works, which can be seen on Diablo Immortal as boss. Like Baal and Andariel, Duriel was sealed in the Black Soul Stone and at the end of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls.

New Demons from Diablo Lore

diabloThe multidimensional lore provides plenty of room for Blizzard to bring new characters to the fore. Since Lilith is the main antagonist, it would be fitting that demons closest to her would be featured as well. One of them is her brother, Lucion. The demon known as Primus of the Triune has a complex history with Lilith, including rivals in the Sin War era. This would make for an interesting conflict between the demons in a similar vein to the tension between the Lesser Evils and Primes Evils in previous Diablo works.

Another Sin War demon worthy of an introduction diablo game canon is Astrogha. He was Diablo’s representative on Sanctuary during the Sin War, and one of the Supreme Leaders of the Temple of the Triune after the aforementioned Lucion. The Prime Evils connection with Diablo and with Lilith through Lucion would fit well in the Lilith-centered Diablo 4 storyline. The trio of Lucion, Lilith and Astrogha has a long and complex history, which can add captivating twists and turns. Astrogha’s appearance is said to be a spider-humanoid hybrid with a lower half of a spider and the upper half of a human. Blizzard may think it clashes too much Diablo 2 and Baal’s aesthetics, but if implemented properly it can be one of the more terrifying foes.

Another minor demon that could see the first game appearance is Thonos. The demon summoned by Lilith is said to be the size of a dozen men, his skin covered with eyes and hundreds of tentacles. The tentacles would provide plenty of room for intriguing gameplay mechanics, and the massive creature would certainly captivate in cinematic sequences. The connection with Lilith in diablo lore would make it a perfect fit for Diablo 4. Grimspike would also make an interesting boss, although it’s not technically a new character in the games. However, not many people remember the lizard-like demon from the beginning diablo title. Belial’s lieutenant is a minor boss in the original game and did not appear in diablo ever since. In unused voice clips from diablo, he is quoted as having immense power. Although that doesn’t seem to be much in the original diablocould he become a mighty enemy in Diablo 4.

There are many other demons waiting to be unleashed on the poor inhabitants of Sanctuary. Powerful demons with no significant ties to Lilith include Kabraxis, the Banisher of Light, praying mantis-like demon Xazax, and an accomplice of Baal, or Gulag, who possesses no cleverness but all the strength he could ask for. It’s clear that diablo Lore has a huge pool of awesome NPCs that Diablo 4 could use, in addition to the main demonic characters, Lilith and the three Prime Evils.
