Predicting which Fantasy players will perform on any given match day is a difficult task. By crunching the numbers, a projected point total for each player is calculated based on the player’s historical performance in the UEFA Champions League. Goals, assists, clean sheets and the chance to play are the main parameters used in our forecasts.
The top projected players for each position for matchday 2 are shown below. As always, check out the latest team news and possible lineups before making your final pick on #UCLfantasy presented by Playstation.
TIPPERS
Player | Price | Club | opponents | Away from home | Match day | projected points |
Thibaut Courtois | €6.0 million | Real Madrid | Leipzig | House | Wednesday | 6.3 |
Ederson | €6.0 million | Man City | Dortmund | House | Wednesday | 6.1 |

Alex Meret | €5.0 million | Naples | rangers | Away | Tuesday | 5.4 |
Odysseas Vlachodimos | €5.0 million | Benfica | Juventus | Away | Wednesday | 4.7 |
On match day 1 Thibaut Courtois picked up where he left off last season with a clean sheet and seven Fantasy points when he helped Real Madrid keep Celtic at bay. The algorithm once again places the Belgian at the top of the projections, while the reigning European champions Leipzig entertain on match day 2.
Colleague premium priced goalkeeper Ederson also kept a clean sheet on opening night and the Manchester City man will aim to back that up as the Premier League side welcome Dortmund. Value goalkeeper from last season Odysseas Vlachodimos started well for Portuguese outfit Benfica, but now faces a tough test with Juventus, their Matchday 2 opponent.

Ruben Dias | €5.5 million | Man City | Dortmund | House | Wednesday | 5.9 |
The highest projected defender for matchday 1 was Joao Canceloand Manchester City’s leading full-back duly lived up to that bill with a 15-point return against Sevilla, while team-mate Ruben Dias was only one point behind and this time sneaks into the top ten.
Attacking fullbacks Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes will be highly sought after by Fantasy managers when Paris meets Maccabi Haifa on Matchday 2, while the same can be said of Denzel Dumfries when Inter takes on Pilsen.
Interest in Tottenham defenders has increased since their elimination on matchday 1 against Marseille, and the algorithm is leaning towards Ivan Perisicwho gave an assist against the French side, and Cristian Romerowho has a history of excelling when it comes to recovering the ball in the UEFA Champions League.
MIDFIELDS
Player | Price | Club | opponents | Away from home | Match day | projected points |
Vinicius Junior | €10.0 million | Real Madrid | Leipzig | House | Wednesday | 8.4 |
Leroy Sané | €9.0 million | Bayern | Barcelona | House | Tuesday | 8.1 |
Kevin De Bruyne | €10.5 million | Man City | Dortmund | House | Wednesday | 7.9 |

Marian Shvedi | €5.0 million | Shakhtar Donetsk | Celtic | House | Wednesday | 6.8 |
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia | €5.5 million | Naples | rangers | Away | Tuesday | 6.4 |
Real Madrid pair Vinicius Junior and Luka Modrić – the two most obsessed #UCLfantasy midfielders – both found the net on matchday 1 and now face a Leipzig side who conceded four goals against Shakhtar Donetsk last time, while the Manchester City duo Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden again after they registered attacking returns against Sevilla.
Leroy Sané got off to a strong start as he tried to replicate his performance in 2021/22, as a goal and assist against Inter on Day 1 delivered a well-known double-digit points win for the Bayern winger. In the meantime, Steven Bergwijn rewarded his owners with a goal, but the Dutchman limped away after scoring, so his availability on Matchday 2 needs to be checked.
The highest score of the match day among midfielders was from Napoli’s Piotr Zielinskicwhose 18-point throw has certainly caught the attention of #UCLfantasy executives, while two goals for €5.0 million Marian Shvedi makes the Shakhtar man an early budget gem this season.
FORWARD
Player | Price | Club | opponents | Away from home | Match day | projected points |
Robert Lewandowski | €11.0 million | Barcelona | Bayern | Away | Tuesday | 10.2 |
Kylian Mbappe | €11.0 million | Paris | Maccabi Haifa | Away | Wednesday | 9.7 |
Erling Haaland | €11.0 million | Man City | Dortmund | House | Wednesday | 9.4 |
Neymar | €10.0 million | Paris | Maccabi Haifa | Away | Wednesday | 8.7 |
Lionel Messi | €10.5 million | Paris | Maccabi Haifa | Away | Wednesday | 8.0 |
Harry Kane | €10.5 million | Tottenham | Sporty CP | Away | Tuesday | 7.7 |
Rafael Leão | €8.5 million | Milan | Dinamo Zagreb | House | Wednesday | 7.3 |
Richardson | €8.5 million | Tottenham | Sporty CP | Away | Tuesday | 7.0 |
Mislav Orsic | €7.5 million | Dinamo Zagreb | Milan | Away | Wednesday | 6.8 |
Dusan Vlahovic | €9.0 million | Juventus | Benfica | House | Wednesday | 6.7 |
Many #UCLfantasy executives opt for three premium forwards and it is difficult to go against that strategy when, for example Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are so productive. All three are again heavily supported in the forecasts, but there are plenty of viable alternatives elsewhere.
Maybe it’s the turn Lionel Messi and Neymar to shine on matchday 2. The latter provided an assist against Juventus and appears to have penalties for Christophe Galtier’s star-studded side, while Messi is capable of turning back the years on any given day.
Harry Kane owners were disappointed with his blank against Marseille on matchday 1, but the England international is never long without finding the net. It was his teammate Richardson who stole the show last time, but the Brazilian’s two goals earned him 13 Fantasy points on his debut in the competition.
