Denji, Aki and Power are the main team of the chainsaw man series usually focuses on. Denji, the protagonist, takes center stage, of course, but still manages to make a ton of new friends (and enemies) during his arduous journey. It would be impossible for any devil, devil, and fighter to get their time to shine and show off their strengths and weaknesses without the series dragging on forever.
The chainsaw man series features a handful of interesting supporting characters that audiences have become attached to despite their brief appearances. After playing their part in the overarching story, many of these characters seem to fade into the background for the sake of the main cast. Here are a few chainsaw man side characters would want the audience to see more of them.
Disclaimer: Major spoilers ahead!
7 Kishibe
Public Safety Devil Hunter, Kishibe, is the one to thank for Denji’s strength and skill on the battlefield. Originally from Tokyo Special Division 1, Kishibe eventually became the captain of Tokyo Special Division 4, where he then took on the role of personal trainer to Denji and Power.
Obviously, Kishibe is an old dog who still knows a lot of new tricks and is the quintessential “badass elder” that the starry-eyed protagonist looks up to. With years and years of devil-hunting under his belt, there’s no doubt that the stories Kishibe could tell would yield incredible arcs or spin-offs in their own right.
Kishibe has a fair share of screen time, but it’s still such a shame that the public didn’t get to see more of him when he was out. Hopefully fans will see more of him in the future!
6 Quanxi
Years ago, Quanxi and Kishibe met as young Devil Hunters who often trained and collaborated; she was later known as a “First Devil Hunter”. After many years in the hunting field with Kishibe, she eventually retired and moved to China where she fell in love with her colorful harem of Fiends.
She was introduced to the story after the Chinese army ordered her to capture the elusive Chainsaw Man. After her defeat at the hands of Makima, she was then essentially brainwashed into joining Makima’s Tokyo Special Division 5.
Quanxi didn’t get many opportunities to talk or elaborate on her past, and she didn’t even have the freedom to just be herself when she returned as part of Makima’s team. The mysterious devil hunter and her quirky harem would certainly have won fans over if given the chance!
5 Reze
Reze got her time to shine during her arc with Denji, but most of what the audience saw wasn’t the real Reze. During her time with Denji, her sole goal throughout their relationship was to seduce him and completely win his heart.
She competed with Makima in the battle for Denji’s heart, so naturally Reze had to reinforce the flirtatious and affectionate behavior to ensure her victory. During her entire arc with Denji, she was never allowed to show her true colors, even for a little bit. The mysterious Bomb Devil, aka Lady Reze of the Soviet Union, left the public with tons of unanswered questions; about her motives, her past, her genuine personality and her true feelings for the naive Denji.
4 Angel
Angel, despite his name, is still a devil, the Angel Devil. Angel embodies the fear of angels and teamed up with Aki after joining Tokyo Special Division 4 as a fellow Public Safety Devil Hunter. Angel, as his name implies, is not a fan of fighting and would rather give in to his laziness and sit on the sidelines with an ice cream cone while his teammates do the dirty work.
Angel’s most interesting arc concerns his quiet dislike of people; have no real aggressive hostility, but still believe that all people deserve to die a painful death. Eventually, his stance on the human being as a whole changes when he realizes how nice a human (Aki) can be.
Little is explored about Angel’s past life and the little glimpse we see in his memories and alleged ex-lover is cut short by Makima’s intervention.
Here’s hoping Angel will reincarnate soon to reunite with Denji again later.
3 Ray
Beam is the energetic, charismatic Shark Fiend who is also a member of Tokyo Special Division 4 and is Chainsaw Man’s biggest fan. Denji feels a little lonely at times when he sometimes feels like there’s no one by his side, but he can always count on Beam having his back.
Beam is usually seen running around and helping his “Lord Chainsaw” in any way he can; either in his devil form or full devil form (where he completely transforms into a giant shark). Beam loves to fight and is always eager to jump in and fight, even if he’s a little scared or unsure of his abilities. Beam was a fun character who always managed to lift the mood, and it was a shame to see him leave before the public learned more about him and why he loves Denji so much.
2 Hirofumi Yoshida
Yoshida is the friendly Private Devil Hunter who has a contract with the mighty Octopus Devil. Yoshida is quite mysterious as he is often secretive about who he works under and is only truly known as a top-notch bodyguard specialist.
After a small encounter with Denji, Yoshida eventually returned after Makima’s arc later in the series; still the role of bodyguard for Denji. So far, Yoshida has gotten a fair share of screen time, but the public still doesn’t know much about him. He has not been able to show off his true self, as far as the public is aware, Yoshida fans have until now seen it as an act (just like Reze) for the sake of his work. For now, it looks like Yoshida plans to stick around for the sake of Denji (and safety), so hopefully fans will learn more about Yoshida and his true identity.
1 galgalic
Commonly known as the Violence Fiend, Galgali is much friendlier than most people would think! Violence is another member of the Tokyo Special Division 4 that only resorts to combat when it is the only option left. He attributes his peace-loving, friendly demeanor and polite demeanor to preserving most of his human brain.
While Violence looks a little intimidating with his signature plague mask on, he’s actually a lot scarier without it. Without Violence’s plague mask, he reveals his spiky black hair and four completely white eyes. Under his usual hoodie and uniform, Violence is very muscular and muscular, just like you would imagine the Violence Devil would be. Violence’s friendship with Kobeni was a well-deserved, healthy break from the gore and dark atmosphere of the rest of the series, and fans can only hope he reincarnates to reunite with Denji soon.
