George Lucas created a huge history for the Star Warsuniverse. While much of it is no longer canon, there’s always a chance Disney will draw inspiration from some of the franchise’s forgotten stories and characters. There are tons of characters worthy of their own spin-off, and with the speed at which new shows are developed, there’s a chance they’ll get one at some point.

8 DJ

DJ is first met by Finn and Rose during their short stay at Canto Bite. Unable to find a hacker to help them board Snoke’s Dreadnought, they settle for DJ, though they remain skeptical of his intentions.

DJ is one of the few characters in Star Wars to believe that the Resistance and the First Order are both plagues in the galaxy. He was a deeply cynical creature with little interest in anything but securing wealth, but what made him so? A spin-off starring DJ could give him some much-needed backstory to finally flesh out his purpose in the universe.

7 porgs

The introduction of porgs in The Last Jedi marked the debut of one of the most adorable strains in the Star Wars franchisee. These beakless birds don’t add much to the film’s plot, but it’s hard not to deny the much-needed level of cuteness they contribute.

A spin-off could follow the life of a lost porg who strayed on the Millennium Falcon and got lost in another galaxy. The lone creature would have to search the vast space to find a way home, but if he was unable to speak, his plans would be exceedingly difficult to accomplish.

6 TO DO

DO was introduced in The Rise of Skywalker and because of this, he got very little screen time. He is a charming droid who speaks Basis, but his primitive hardware and lack of maintenance caused his speech to become distorted and often incomprehensible.

The most interesting aspect of DO’s character is his backstory. He reluctantly served a Sith assassin named Ochi and was left traumatized after the experience. A spin-off show featuring this data-storage droid could follow its journey under the command of the elusive killer.

5 Merrin

Introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen OrderMerrin quickly became a fan favorite thanks to the mystery surrounding her. She is initially presented as a villain before slowly changing her mind about the Jedi and joining Cal on his journey. As Dathomirian, Merrin harbors some mind-boggling alien powers not yet seen in live action.

The Nightsisters of Dathomir were presented in The Clone Wars TV show as a cult-like group capable of harnessing dark magic. A spin-off show starring Merrin could reveal what her life was like before she met Cal Kestis, and might even reveal a connection between her and Darth Maul.

4 chirrut mwe

There’s no denying that Chirrut Îmwe was one of the most fascinating characters in Rogue One. Until his debut, it was believed that only Jedi could use the Force, but Chirrut disproved this. He uses the Force to make up for his lack of vision, but how did he lose his sight in the first place?

A spin-off show about Chirrut could reveal how he came to understand the Force, possibly hinting at a secret Jedi past in the process. His lack of eyesight has never limited his freedom of movement Rogue Onebut it certainly was a hindrance at some point in his life.

3 Admiral Ackbar

Many fans believed that Admiral Ackbar’s death off-screen in The Last Jedi was undeserved. After the film’s debut, it soon became apparent that he was a much more beloved character than most thought, so a spin-off starring the iconic Mon Calamari would likely satisfy his disgruntled fans.

Perhaps this spin-off can follow Ackbar’s rise in the ranks of the Rebellion while also documenting his early life. He is known to have been raised by a clan of merchants on the planet Dac, but otherwise little has been researched about the character’s early life. He lived during the Clone Wars, so maybe a spin-off could focus on his life before the events of Order 66.

2 The Knights Of Ren

Rey witnesses a series of shocking images after touching Luke’s lost lightsaber in The power awakens. Some of these memories show scenes fans are familiar with, but one of them showed Kylo Ren and his lackeys destroying a Jedi temple.

The Knights of Ren eventually returned in The Rise of Skywalker, but their screen time was kept to a minimum in favor of the main story. although The Rise of Kylo Ren revealed how Ben Solo came to lead the group, not much is known about how the Knights of Ren really came to be.

1 R2-D2

R2-D2 has always been a valuable asset Star Wars movie trilogy. If it weren’t for the trusty droid, most of the franchise’s main characters would have ended early. His courage is unparalleled given his abilities, but little is known about the inner workings of his mind.

Unlike its larger counterpart, C-3PO, its memories were never erased. He has managed to preserve all his memories since his service to Queen Amidala, but it is rare for him to divulge this information to his comrades. A spin-off from R2-D2 could finally let fans experience how he feels and what he thinks about the demise of his former master.
