Yakuza 0 is the recommended start to the series for a reason. Not only does it shed more light on main characters like Kiryu and Majima, but it also makes a great impression with its dynamic combat system and mini-games, dramatic main story and hilarious sub-stories. If you deviate from the main story, Yakuza 0 can easily take over 100 hours, especially if you’re a completeist.

The game already offers a full package, but no game is quite perfect. There are tons of mods that make the PC version of Yakuza 0 even more fun to play and add a lot of replay value.

8 New Movesets and Heat Actions

This mod is a good idea if you like the combat and cinematic Heat Actions in Yakuza 0, but have seen the same one a million times. It gives you a new moveset to defeat enemies with, as well as new Heat Actions. It also modifies the quick-time events that take place in boss fights and their intros before the fight starts.

Not only that, but there are also changes and additions to the weapons. Overall, this mod breathes new life into the game and keeps it fresh for longer.

7 Infinite Durability and Bullets

Weapons in the game can be very useful against particularly tough enemies, such as Majima’s and Kiryu’s respective Mr. Shakedowns. But if they break at that point or run out of bullets, you could be in trouble. With this mod, all your weapons can have infinite durability and bullets.

Most people don’t like durability mechanics for weapons in games, and if you’re one of them, this mod is actually made for you. Make sure to fix all the weapons you had before installing this mod in the Dragon and Tiger store to give them this effect.

6 Komaki Restoration

A major incentive to complete Kiryu’s Real Estate Royale mini-game is unlocking his iconic Dragon of Dojima fighting style. New fighting styles are always welcome in this game, and this one is especially powerful when upgraded enough.

However, if 0 isn’t your first Yakuza game, you may have noticed that this style lacks some of the iconic Komaki moves it uses in the other games. This mod puts those Komaki moves into Yakuza 0, allowing Kiryu to use them in his Dragon or Dojima fighting style. It also adds a few bonus details about the quality of life related to combat.

5 Completed all annoying CP

No matter how much you love Yakuza, you’re probably not a big fan of every minigame it has to offer. This makes it all the more frustrating when completion points are locked behind certain achievements associated with those detested minigames.

Fortunately, this benevolent mod has done most of the dirty work for you and completed much of the achievements that give you CP. The important ones, like sub-stories, are still available to experience and unlock for yourself. With this mod you don’t have to worry about playing the stuff you don’t like to finish it.

4 Licensed Music Recovery Patch

If you’re only familiar with the western version of Yakuza 0, you might not have known that the Japanese version had licensed music that didn’t make it into the English version. This mod restores that music so that you can enjoy it in the English version as well.

While it may not be that important, it’s nice to be able to experience the cinematics of the game with the music originally intended for them. The licensed songs play during the intro and end credits, as well as a cutscene very early in the game.

3 Modern Mini Map

This detail is purely cosmetic, but it’s nice to have all the same, especially if you’ve spent hours looking at the same interface. This mod gives the minimap in the game a makeover, improves the definition of the icons and changes the colors to be more in line with the 80s.

You’ll be looking at the map almost all the time to get from place to place, so why not spice it up a bit and make it more fun to look at with this minimap mod?

2 The Ultimate Nishiki Mode

Whether you’re a big fan of Nishiki or just want the chance to play as someone other than Kiryu (who isn’t Majima), this mod will take that itch away. It replaces everything Kiryu related, such as his model and voice lines, with Nishiki versions. It even uses Nishiki’s movesets, so you don’t just do the same in battle with a Nishiki skin.

This is another mod that does a good job of keeping the game fresh and the combat fun to play. You might as well enjoy playing Nishiki before the events of Yakuza Kiwami 2.

1 Rebalanced Mode

If you feel like you’ve mastered pretty much everything the game has to offer, try playing with this mod. It adds an extra challenge in places by recalibrating many of the combat aspects. Enemies, including bosses, will have higher HP and most fighting styles do less damage to them.

On the other hand, it adds useful changes such as making Real Estate Royale and Cabaret Club Czar faster, freeing up more time for the main content. There’s also some conditional weapon durability thrown in, as well as many more additions. It’s almost like playing a remaster.
