While their power varies from one game to another, healers are always an essential part of any party they’re in. Within the Xenoblade Chronicles series, healers have not always been necessary, but in Xenoblade Chronicles 3their value cannot be underestimated.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s role system, healers naturally restore the health of the attackers and defenders, but usually also come with a host of useful buffs and debuffs. Like attackers, they also need to be careful not to take too much hostile aggression out of their healing. However, with the abundant lessons and arts the game offers, it can be difficult to know which arts to prioritize over general or specialized healer playstyles. These are the best options.

8 Resonant Flag

For a buff-heavy playstyle, the Signifier class is unlockable around Chapter 5 of the game, and plays with buffs in a big way. The class has the ability to provide itself and its party with random upgrades, keeping the entire team alive.

Resonant Flag provides a convenient way to keep the buffs cycling around the party. It allows the Signifier to share any improvements they have with the rest of the party. With art from other classes, this can get even stronger, giving the entire party access to powerful enhancements.

7 Heal Bullet

A major limitation for some arts is how long it takes to master them. New classes in XC3 make some effort to unlock, and even more so to spread out across the party. The War Medic class gains in value by being one of the first unlockable classes, usually the second the party gains access to.

Heal Bullet eventually becomes one of the most consistent arts of its class. It is purely focused on healing and does its job exceptionally well. It applies a significant healing to all allies in range and has a relatively short cool down time of 17 seconds, making it a consistent source of healing.

6 The way home

When the game starts, the party can only access the first three steps of a Burst combo, with Break, Topple, and Daze usually appearing in Attacker, Defender, and Healer classes respectively. Burst isn’t obtained until at least Chapter 3, and even then he’s locked behind a talent art, which can take a while to charge.

Once the Troubadour class is acquired around Chapter 6, a much simpler Burst option will be available in Way Home. For all parties who want to take advantage of burst’s item dropping effects, Way Home is an essential art.

5 Multiblast

War Medic has already been mentioned as a good healer class that is available before most others, but Heal Bullet is not the only valuable art this class offers. Multiblast is also more than worth using.

The main difference between Multiblast and Heal Bullet is that Multiblast doubles as an attack. This means it can miss and lose its healing effects, but being a master art it can be used in other classes, giving them stronger healing options that also help with damage.

4 hornet

An important detail about art is the different ways they are charged. Arts from Keves classes use a timed cooldown, while Agnus arts are recharged via auto attacks. Depending on the class with which these arts are used, this can change which arts are more valuable.

Hornet offers an Agnus alternative to Multiblast, which is more useful in fast auto-attack classes. No matter what class it’s used in, Hornet still deals slightly more damage than Multiblast – in addition to some potential drawbacks, such as the ability to miss.

3 Aquamind

Aquamind is an extremely strong art for healers; however, it is mainly limited by how long it takes to access. Notably, it is unlocked through the Lifesage class, which is a strong healer class, but is only gained by defeating XC3 in its entirety.

However, once players get their hands on it, Aquamind becomes hard to ignore. It does not provide instant healing, instead, the feast heals over time. However, it also speeds up the activation of art. This, coupled with the decent charging speed, means it can be used quite regularly and allows for faster healings.

2 Ring o’Roses

While Aquamind helps with art speed, there is an art with an even stronger buff. However, this art sacrifices any damage or healing due to the sheer power of the effect.

The Troubadour class derives much of its value from its ability to speed up art charging, and will be available in Chapter 6. This will make Ring o’Roses accessible for a fair amount of the game. The art loading effect is quite powerful, and being a master art it can be traded to other classes as well, bringing a powerful enhancement to any playstyle.

1 soul fire

While mainstream art is much easier to charge, talented arts justify their higher cost by their greater power and utility. Since each character can only have one, the talent art slots are a very contentious space.

One of the better options for this healer slot is Soulfire, the Strategos class talent art. Not only is his class available as early as Chapter 3, but Soulfire is also a powerful healer for the entire party. In addition, it also applies an attack effect to enemies, which means that the health allies just received last much longer.
