Kill or be killed, then rise from the dead and kill your friends!

Experience the opening hours of a viral undead outbreak in the town of Cypress Ridge in September 1999. Choose from a wide cast of ordinary citizens, each with their own unique skills, traits and storylines as you team up with up to three friends online or via local split screen to escape the undead apocalypse. Choose your team members carefully as different characters have access to different parts of the game.

Your group must search for supplies, fight the undead and traverse the city while hoping to find a way to escape. Death is only the beginning! When players fall, they are resurrected as zombies with one goal: to kill their former allies. Each scenario has branching paths and multiple endings, with your group’s decisions directly affecting their ultimate fate.

They’re not here to save the day, they just want to survive… but if you can’t beat them, join them!

Dead Drop Studios has officially released its . launched Outbreak: Shades Of Horror Kickstarter for the next entry in their long-running Outbreak series, which aims to raise $62,500.

The new title will be a big step forward for the franchise as the Kickstarter campaign will provide the team with the means to collaborate with talented artists, animators, designers and more who share their passion for classic survival horror.

Dead Drop Studios released seven Outbreak games since 2017 as a team of two, working on small budgets, but always delivering very ambitious games to the passionate fan base of the series. The duo have come to Kickstarter to create the next game in their series that celebrates what fans love about the franchise while investing in delivering massive upgrades and improvements to the series’ quality of life. The game’s initial funding target is USD$62,500 (about £52,000/€60,500), with stretch targets the developers aim to reveal with each new milestone reached, teasing expansion packs, board games, CGI movies, and even dinosaurs.

Outbreak: Shades Of Horror will focus on online co-op as multiplayer is brought into a series of fresh new stories that move away from the typical horror trope of highly trained cops who can rip through hordes of the undead single-handedly. Instead, the game focuses on ordinary citizens who work together to escape. Players must work together using each character’s unique abilities to maximize their chances of survival and escape. If a player succumbs to the infection, they return as another member of the undead. With their former friend against them, the remaining human players will have to decide whether to do the humane and take them down, or abandon them to join the mobs of undead that are sweeping the city.

Potential players can get a taste of what’s to come in the exciting playable teaser, recently released by Dead Drop Studios. The demo is currently available on Steam, Playstation 5, Xbox Series S|Xand Google Stadia. For the first time, anyone with the link to the demo can play for 60 minutes on Stadia, even if they don’t have an account. Players with a Stadia account have unlimited access.
