The start of the 2022 Ohio State football season, and one of the most highly anticipated Ohio Stadium home game schedules ever, is just eight days away. no. 2 Ohio State hosts No. 5 Notre Dame at 7:30 PM on Saturday, September 3, in one of the big games of the season. ABC will broadcast to a national audience.
Unlike last year when new technologies such as mobile ticketing and parking, metal detectors and self-scan tickets were introduced, there are not many changes to matchday procedures for 2022. There are certainly tips and protocols to watch out for when in and but around the stadium. Some of the key news and notes fans should know this year include: arrive early.
The standard matchday timeline for Ohio Stadium home games this year:
- 5 a.m. – Parking spaces open
- Four hours before kick-off – Skull Session doors open at St. John Arena
- Three hours before kick-off – FanFest opens on the south lawn of the St. John Arena
- Two hours before kick-off: Ohio Stadium gates open and the Skull Session begins
- 20 minutes before kick-off – TBDBITL’s ramp
Safelite is a new field sponsor
Safelite, the Columbus-based vehicle glazing and recalibration company, is expanding its partnership with Ohio State’s athletics division through a new multi-year sponsorship in agreement with Learfield’s Ohio State Sports Properties. In 2014, Safelite became the first company to sponsor a logo on field goal nets, and will now be the first to sponsor field logos on what will be called Safelite Field. The field will now contain two white Safelite placements opposite the B1G logos.

Game Day Alerts SMS Service
Fans are encouraged to sign up for Game Day Alerts, a free texting service that alerts fans to real-time traffic and parking updates, weather information, and emergency alerts. Text OSUFB22 to 67283 to sign up.
Ohio State Singles Tickets
Single game tickets for all games except the sold out Notre Dame and Michigan games can be purchased online at http://go.osu.edu/fbtix. Verified resale tickets are available at ticketmaster.com, http://go.osu.edu/fbtix and through the Ohio State Buckeyes app. The Department of Athletics encourages fans to protect themselves from potential fraud by using these sites in place of other resale tickets to purchase resale tickets.
Ohio Stadium 100
The 2022 season will celebrate 100 years of Ohio Stadium. The iconic location on the banks of the Olentangy River is the site of 100 years of games, opening ceremonies, concerts and, for all Buckeye fans, memories. The stadium is commemorated during the homecoming game against Rutgers on October 1. “A walk in our ‘shoe’
This week, the university’s archives opened ‘A Walk in Our ‘Shoe: 100 Years of Ohio Stadium’ at the Thompson Library. The free exhibit focuses on the stadium’s history with historic uniforms and memorabilia from Buckeye coach legends.
Limited Edition Game Show with NFTs
As part of the Ohio Stadium 100 celebration, this year’s limited edition game day program will feature cover designs that pay tribute to Ohio Stadium’s history and tradition. Each edition features hot foil stamping and a cover design from the 1920s, ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s. Each program also includes a bonded certificate of authenticity and a personal access code to unlock an official pack of Ohio State’s unique digital collectible NFTs. Game shows cost $20 and can be pre-ordered, picked up at the game, or shipped to a home address at https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/gameday/commemorative/.
Returning: Stadium Experiences
Ohio Stadium “experiences” return to match day for the first time since 2019. The official Ohio State Buckeyes app is the best way for fans to purchase stadium experiences, including watching warmups with a pregame field pass, taking photos on the field, press box tours, and birthday wishes and messages on the video board.
Woody Hayes & John Herrick Drives open
Woody Hayes and John Herrick Drives will have fewer lanes (one lane each way) in use, but both will be open on match day, unlike last year. All fans should plan ahead, arrive early and allow extra time to enter the stadium.
West Campus Shuttle
Fans parking and driving from the west campus will board the shuttles at Carmack 1 – the far east parking lot. Shuttles run between the Carmack 1 parking lot and Coffey Road Park, which is within walking distance of Ohio Stadium, from six hours before kick-off until one hour after the game.
Game tickets
All game tickets are now digitally issued on fans’ smartphones/mobile devices. Download the official Ohio State Buckeyes app to access tickets and visit Ohio State’s Digital ticketing guide for complete information on opening and managing digital tickets.
Parking
On football Saturdays, parking on match days is available on a first-come, first-served basis. All football parking lots and garages open at 5am. All parking spaces will again be cashless this year and will fit on fans’ mobile devices. Individuals with seasonal parking permits can access their passes through their Ohio State Buckeyes account in addition to their game tickets. Fans scan the QR code on their mobile device when entering the parking lot.
Only credit cards are accepted in all public parking spaces. The prices to park this year are $25 and $30.
Cashless operations
This year, cash transactions will once again be used throughout Ohio Stadium, including for program sales, concessions, ticket sales and merchandise. The cashless concession system has been upgraded for faster service and checkout time. Fans can skip the line and order food, including new options like Hot Chicken Takeover, Dirty Frank’s and Smashed Buns, in the Ohio State Buckeyes app.
Ticket pedestals
All gates to Ohio Stadium have ticket feet that fans will use to access the game by scanning their ticket from their own mobile device.
metal detectors
All Ohio Stadium entrance gates will be equipped with walk-through metal detectors that guests must pass to enter. Fans are not required to empty their pockets unless instructed by stadium security. The goal is frictionless entry to Ohio Stadium.
No Baggage Policy
The state of Ohio will continue its bag-free policy at Ohio Stadium and all athletic department locations. Small bags, no larger than 5 by 8 by 1 inches, are allowed. Guests with medical or childcare needs may carry one bag, no larger than 14 by 14 by 4 inches, into the stadium through one of these two locations: the Band Center entrance between Gates 10 and 12, or the press entrance between the Huntington Club and gate 23.
