Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent is a gacha-based single-player RPG that takes place years before the original game. Similar to Octopath Traveler, you gather a group of heroes from eight different classes and embark on an adventure through the world of Orsterra.
The world of Orsterra is constantly changing with new updates to the game, with new content, characters and story missions being added consistently, leading to tons of information to digest when you first start out. Let’s take a look at some tips to get you started in Champions of the Continent.
A well-rounded team
There are eight different classes in Champions of the Continent, each with their own weapon and unique abilities. The best way to do well in combat is to be able exploit the enemy’s weak pointwhat you can do best by having a wide range of weapon types and elements.
Therefore, for general exploration and story missions, you should aim for: have one from each class in your party, giving you access to at least all eight weapon types, and even a few different elements. This allows you to hit enemy weaknesses, leading to more victories in battle.
Pause and boost
All enemies in Champions of the Continent have weaknesses. Usually enemies are weak to a combination of elements and weapon types. When an enemy’s weakness is hit often enough, they will broken statein which they will take more damage from all attacks.
On the other hand, characters get one boost point each turn. Then they can spend up to three Boost points at once to boost their next attackincreasing damage and allowing normal attacks to hit the enemy more often.
The break and boost system determines the mainstream of battles, where you hit the enemy’s weaknesses until they are in the broken statethen boost your attacks and unleash powerful abilities while the enemy is vulnerable.
Increasing Influence
Wealth, power and fame are the driving forces behind the characters and story of Champions of the Continent. As you progress, you will increase your influence on wealth, power and fame. Increasing their levels gives you small bonuses for your party’s stats and rubies.
You can increase your influence by: Guide new characters, complete story missions and upgrade your characters’ skill board. As you increase your influence, you can also: interact with new NPCs using Path Actions. Increasing influence makes you slightly more powerful over timeand will reward you with precious rubies for guiding new characters.
Path action priority
With the Influence System, there are also three types of path actions related to Wealth, Power, and Fame: Buy, battle and beg, respectively. Using these path actions, you can: materials you can sell, exclusive equipmentand other useful items such as Experience nuts.
As mentioned above, certain NPCs require a higher influence rank to use path actions, so make sure increase your influence to access a wider selection of NPCs. In addition, when you reach a new city, try to use path actions on all NPCs in the area to get useful items.
Cait every day
Caits are rare enemies who have a chance to appear in battle, and will yield a lot of experience and leaves if you can beat them. In addition, you will find several stationary Caits around the world that can be fought once a day. While random Caits have a chance to escape, stationary Caits will not escape your noticeso you can beat them for their rewards.
In addition, you can watch three ads every day to get a Cait . to summon, which lets you fight for experience and Leaves. Beating Caits is one of the best ways to improve your party, so make sure you take advantage of these features every day to get stronger.
Start strong
When you start your journey in Champions of the Continent, you start with one of eight five star characters. Then, shortly after completing the tutorial, you can: use Rubies to summon new characters. While you can take whatever character you get and begin your adventure, you may also want to: reroll your account for the chance of a better start.
Lynette, Viola and Fiore are popular 5-star re-roll goals, and give you a strong start in the early game. Re-rolling can be a tedious process, so we recommend doing it only if you absolutely want the best start possible and are willing to do the game’s tutorial repeatedly for a while.
take your time
Champions of the Continent is a Single Player RPGof no temporary events just like other mobile games in the genre. This means that most of the content added to the game is permanent, except for rare crossover events. The whole game can be played at your own paceso you can complete story chapters and boss battles whenever you want.
Although there are quests and other things to do every day like hunts and developing the Nameless Citythese can be completed at your own pace and will never disappear from the game all together.
