Vinland Saga is one of the most acclaimed anime series. It got an anime adaptation all the way back in 2019, and it was received extremely positively by viewers. So it was only a matter of time before the anime received its second season.

10 Thorfinn
Thorfinn is the main character of the series. He is the son of Thors and Helga. He grew up with the ambition to be like his father. Thorfinn’s world came crashing down when his father was murdered by Askeladd. The boy swore to avenge his father, but to gain strength he traveled with Askeladd’s group.
Thors and his men were ambushed by Askeladd’s group, but it wasn’t long before Thors overpowered them. Unfortunately, Askeladd wasn’t ready to play fair, and he took Thorfinn hostage, allowing his men to kill Thors. Askeladd sent Thorfinn on several dangerous missions, which made the latter very powerful, and by the end of the first season, Thorfinn had managed to wound Thorkell in combat. Thorfinn will also play a major role next season.
9 ragnar
Ragnar was Canute’s caretaker, who served the prince to the end. Ragnar saved the young prince from all kinds of damage, including several assassination attempts on the prince’s life. After spending a lot of time together, Ragnar considered Canute to be his own son, and he went to great lengths to protect the young prince. When Ragnar died, the news caused a lot of trauma to Canute, and it completely changed him.
8 Thors
Thors is undoubtedly the strongest character from the first season of Vinland Saga. He earned the name “Troll of Jom” because of his enormous physical strength. Thors name was known to every warrior and he quickly became famous, but one day he changed his mind. So he pretended to be dead and left for Iceland with his family.
The plan worked for several years before he was found by Floki, who forced Thors to join the Vikings, but it soon became apparent that it was all a hoax on the part of Floki, who wanted to get rid of him.
7 Askeladd
Askeladd was the highlight of the first season of Vinland Saga. He was responsible for Thors’ death, and then he used Thorfinn as a pawn to achieve his goals. Despite his malice, Askeladd was a great character who won over the fans.
The main reason behind his popularity is his personality. He has the perfect combination of wits and brains, and it was obvious that his greatest asset was his intelligence. He could get out of the toughest situations by coming up with a strategy in minutes.
6 Thorkel
Thorkell is an extremely powerful character, whose only defeat ever came at the hands of Thors, and for this reason Thorkell had great respect for him. He is a giant of a man, and he has a constant need for battle.
If he goes too long without fighting, Thorkell becomes restless. Despite his appearance, Thorkell is not cruel and only goes after soldiers and trained fighters.
5 knot
Prince Canute is the son of King Sweyn. When he first appeared in the series, Canute came across as an extremely timid man, who needed constant protection, but after Ragnar was killed by Askeladd, Canute changed completely.
He became a manipulative person, using his brain to defeat his opponents. In the end, Canute eliminated all threats to his position and became the frontrunner for the position of the next king of Denmark.
4 Helga
Helga is Thorfinn’s mother. She was married to Thors when he was still part of the Jomsvikings. After Thors changed his mind, the two left for Iceland, where they lived in peace, until Floki found them.
Helga didn’t have a major role in the first season, but it’s important to remember that she helped Thors raise Ylva and Thorfinn.
3 Ylvac
Ylva is the daughter of Thors and Helga. After Thors and Thorfinn left Iceland, Ylva had to take care of her mother and the entire farm. Unlike her mother, Ylva is very cheeky and is not afraid to confront other people. Ylva is very talented and can hunt, fish and other things. All these qualities helped Ylva and her mother survive when Thors and Thorfinn were away.
2 Floki
Floki is one of the most hated characters in the series. It was because of him that Thors was killed and Thorfinn was sent on the path of revenge. He served as a commander in King Sweyn’s army and he made sure to take full advantage of his position.
Floki’s most impressive quality is his ability to devise strategies, and it was because of his planning that Thors was killed. He is also very ruthless and does not hesitate to kill those who dare to stand in his way.
1 Bjorn
Bjorn was Askeladd’s best friend and had served him for many years. Despite being extremely loyal to Askeladd, Bjorn hardly knew anything about him, and that was due to the fact that Askeladd hated the Vikings.
Bjorn’s fighting skills were quite good, which is why he managed to remain Askeladd’s number two for years.
