10 The first Predator game for the NES and MSX is a standard action shooter

The first Predator video game coincided with the release of the original movie in 1987, but it hardly has the same respected reputation. Predator was released for a number of home computer consoles, most notably the MSX, but the version for the Nintendo Entertainment System is highly regarded.

Predator is a pretty generic sidescrolling action shooter, not unlike contrary, which takes a lot of liberties with its levels and enemies outside the encounters with the Predator. Players control Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch and collect weapons of varying strengths as they hunt the Predator at the end of levels.

9 Predator 2 translates the thrill of the sequel into a satisfying top-down shooter

Predator 2 moves its predecessor’s jungle action to the urban sprawl of Los Angeles. Predator 2s its reputation has improved over the years and it has many die-hard defenders. The sequel inspired several video games, the most significant being the 1992 release for the Sega Genesis.

Predator 2 doesn’t deviate too far from the film’s story, and uses an isometric perspective that makes the game’s shooting reminiscent of titles such as Smash TV. Players must take out Predators, but hostages are also attacked whose protection is just as important.

8 Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem is a moderate difficulty PSP exclusive

Some of the Predator’s proudest moments in the gaming medium are in sheer numbers Aliens vs Predators titles out there. aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, the second of the two feature films, was released exclusively on Sony’s handheld PSP. The game has good intentions, but it feels like an exercise in compromise in every department.

The visuals don’t impress enough and the simplistic gameplay and enemy AI reduced the difficulty in the game. There’s a lot of love for the Predators and their powerful arsenal, but the game pales in comparison to others Aliens vs Predators titles.

7 Predator: Concrete Jungle tells an original story of redemption for a murderous warrior

Predator: Concrete Jungle was the first game to focus solely on the Predator series in years. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox release presents an original story that begins in the 1930s and sees a Predator face off against a mob boss as they try to reclaim their weapons and restore their reputation.

Concrete jungle goes to extremes with the ways it connects to the Predator and Alien movies. Despite the game’s strong story and attention to detail, clumsy controls and lackluster gameplay held the title back and prevented Predator of gaining a stronger gaming presence in the 2000s.

6 aliens vs. Predator updates the First-Person Shooter series for modern audiences

Comic books and video games have indulged in the endless potential of the Aliens vs Predators crossover franchise long before they were feature films. 2010’s Aliens vs Predators is a reboot of the franchise from Rebellion Developments, the same studio responsible for the original games. Like many Aliens vs Predators titles, three campaigns exist for Predators, Aliens and Humans.

The Predator campaign is easily the most in-depth when it comes to combat, eventually ending with a terrifying Predalien showdown. 2010’s Aliens vs Predators looks incredible, but it lacks the shine of the original games from the 90s and 2000s.

5 Predator: Hunting Grounds embraces the raw deadly power of this Apex Hunter

The newest Predator game and a PlayStation 4 release, Predator: Hunting Grounds is a shooter that pits a team of four against a deadly Predator. It is the perfect feature to combine with the asymmetrical trend that is only getting more popular.

Players have the option to hunt and dominate as the Predator or be one of the soldiers who must fight for survival. There is clever gameplay and a satisfying use of characters and elements from the feature films, but Hunting Grounds comes down to an average game. Anyway, it helped Predator back in the public eye.

4 Aliens vs. Predator: Extinction is a clever twist on the real-time strategy genre

The majority of Predator and Alien games are shooters or action titles, but Aliens vs Predator: Extinction takes a creative risk that pays off by exploring the real-time strategy genre. Players can control Predators, Aliens or Human Marines, all of which have contrasting playstyles that are worth your while.

Aliens vs Predator: Extinction emphasizes unit management and which of these three types can prevail when resources are limited. It’s proof of how much can be done with a Predator game and that they don’t always have to embrace action.

3 The Alien Vs. Predator is a beat ’em up with bite

Not to be confused with the 1994 arcade game of the same name, the Super Nintendos Alien vs Predator from 1993 is an underrated sidescroller for the 16-bit console. The game presents the Predators as heroes who must take out a series of disturbing Xenomorph animal hybrids.

Standard gameplay like the Predator is legitimately enjoyable, but these elevated boss fights inspired by dolphins, gorillas, bats, snakes, and humans push the Xenomorph to terrifying heights rarely seen in the feature films. It’s a shame this mechanics hasn’t been extended to a real one Predator game.

Capcom has a strong track record of side-scrolling beat-’em-up arcade classics, and one of the most beloved arcade titles from 1994 is their take on Alien vs Predator. Strangely enough, the game presents Aliens Xenomorphs as the villains, and players must control either two Predators or a pair of cybernetically enhanced humans (including the original character, Linn Kurosawa, an agile android).

Alien vs Predator looks great and the gameplay is intuitive and addictive. It is still a much sought after title when it comes to HD remasters of old Capcom classics.

1 Aliens vs Predator 2 is the ultimate Predator multiplayer experience

1999’s Aliens vs Predator first-person shooter series set very high expectations for any subsequent installments, but the 2001 successor is the bigger and better game. Aliens vs Predator 2 excels through each of its campaigns, all of which are connected in natural ways.

There’s more nuance to the Predator’s weapons and how the game lets the player build up his arsenal slowly. The story mode suffices, but Aliens vs Predator 2 becomes the top title thanks to robust online multiplayer, which determined fans have continued to find ways to play, even though the official servers have been shut down.
