It was for almost four years That Marvel’s Spider-Man was kept as Exclusive PlayStation title. From 2018 to 2022would fans of the franchise either play the game on PS4 or ask for a pc release. That is no longer the case if Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered was recently released for the PC and fans can now enjoy the web-slinging goodness along with some modding fun and one case is the PS1 mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Neversoft’s PS1 Spider-Man Makes Its Way To Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
Despite being available on PC now, many users still consider Spider-Man synonymous with PlayStation, given the success it became as a Sony exclusive. That said, it’s fitting how one fan has kept the Spider-Man PlayStation theme alive by modifying the original Spider-Man from the PS1 title into Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Before this mod came to fruition, fans could enjoy playing as venom with a reskin mod. After that we got lots of other additions like the Saul Goodman mod from You better call Saula Stan Lee reskin using the in-game character model. And a dark humorous one in which players can enjoy the web-swinging goodness as… Uncle Ben .’s tombstone. More recently, a fan added a custom character model to the starring game Marvel’s Daredevil.
We’ve also seen some controversial mods like the Pride Flag mod that replaced American and Pride Flags with New York with the one with stars and stripes. The mod was posted by the Sockpuppet account which was quickly terminated by nexus mods along with the user’s main account while giving a warning to the community.

You can now bring the old-fashioned retro Spider-Man PS1 model to the most modern version of the Spider-Man franchise. To be honest, it feels like a crossover between two different generations and makes us realize how far gaming and visuals have come along with the successful growth of the Spider-Man franchise.
We should enjoy this incredible modthanks to the work of mud Crazy Potato. The mod is basically a custom reskin mod for Marvel Spider-Man that uses the classic suit in The game of Insomniac with the Spidery model from Neversoft’s 2000 PlayStation 1 game.

The PS1 character model is perfectly integrated into the game with its dislocated limbs and flat outfit texture over the blocky and rough polygonal body. The textures are all blurry and low resolution, but that’s the beauty of the PS1 era.
A clamp of Marvel’s Spider-Man mod in action was also posted by a Reddit user jjarack. The footage is quite short and simple as it shows the PS1 Spider-Man engaging in combat, doing a few melee and webbing attacks on the rooftops of New York City before jumping out to swing over a few buildings and finally landing on top of a building to snap a sharp selfie of the whimsical twenty-year-old character model.
For the short runtime of the showcase, it’s still a good video as it’s pretty awesome to see that old PS1 era model of Neversoft’s interpretation of Peter Parker performing next-generation web-slinging tricks, smoothly performing parkour across rooftops, and smashing enemies to a pulp.
Back in the day, none of this was possible, as you could only launch a few webs in a short period of time with some jaded animations to go from one isolated and creepy roof to another.
As a kid it was fun to play Neversoft’s Spider-Man for PS1, but it had a really creepy feel to it, especially as a kid. Especially the menu screen without atmosphere or music. Just dead silence and the incredibly terrifying goons and enemies that looked like they came straight out of a horror movie, combined with their deep monstrous voices.

Crazy Potato’s mod is the realization of the demand and dream of fans who wanted to see the PS1 add Spider-Man to the game but didn’t have the expertise and modding capabilities to do so. While the suit usually looks good, Crazy Potato stated that the mod isn’t perfect.
The suit can sometimes fall out and turn permanently blue for the duration of the game. But this can be solved by only fast travel or reload to your last saved game. While this sounds rather annoying and disrupts ongoing gameplay, modder claims they are working on a fix for the mod and want to roll it out as soon as possible.

It’s hard to say if we’ll ever play a new Neversoft interpretation of a Spider-Man game later on. Although, there are a lot of Spider-Man suits in the new game, highlighting earlier versions of Peter Parker. The game draws a line to the colors they include in the game.
This is because Sony currently owns the rights to make Spider-Man games, and the title of Neversoft is published by Activitywhich will soon be taken over by Microsoft. The number of parties and entities that would have to be involved to officially include the Neversoft PS1 suit in the game would never have been worth it for Sony, which is why we might not be able to remaster the original PS1 Spider. get to see -Man game any time soon.

Despite the sheer number of hurdles, fans won’t stop hoping that the game will be remastered one day, as it will bring some deep memories for fans, be they nostalgic or nightmarish. The game is quite outdated by today’s standards, given the huge bar set by Insomniac’s latest additions to the franchise.
Still, Neversoft’s Spider-Man remains a beloved entry into the franchise, as fans have been able to experience Spider-Man in 3D For the first time. Given all this, it’s no wonder fans have somehow anticipated a modern take on the classic Spidey game.
