Rebellion has launched Sniper Elite 5 update 1.09 on all platforms today. This update comes a few weeks after patch 1.08 was released on July 26. Check out the August 8th patch notes for Sniper Elite 1.09 below.
Sniper Elite 5 Update 1.09 Patch Notes | Sniper Elite 5 August 8 Patch Notes:
Hello people,
I’m the designer working on the invasion mode and I wanted to quickly respond to some of the community feedback we’ve seen since the last patch.
First off, we apologize that the patch notes don’t contain a detailed list of the changes we’ve made to Invasion Mode. This was a mistake on our part and something we now want to rectify. The balance sheet changes we made were as follows:
- We’ve removed the Invader’s access to special ammunition. This is because some of the special ammunition types were very powerful, and there were certain scenarios that we wanted to avoid for the targeted players, such as new players being shot through walls without understanding what was happening, and so on.
- We’ve prevented players from stopping during bullet cams, to avoid sneaking out and denying you your just murder!
- A few minor bug fixes and UI tweaks, none of which should affect the balance.
I’ve seen a lot of feedback from players who feel we’re balancing the game too hard in favor of the allied player, and we understand those concerns. From an Invader’s perspective, our balancing patches look like we’re just taking tools from you, while the players you invade still have their full set of skills. However, we have a stat system that we use to track invasion data, and that currently reports that the Invader wins almost 70% of the time! That’s why we make these choices because the Invader wins a lot throughout the game, at all skill levels, and we’re trying to find a better balance.
One thing we think affects the win rate is Focus mode – an incredibly powerful tool for the invaded player that many casual players don’t know about (if you’re reading this and don’t use Focus much then give it a try next time that you become Invaded!) Our next patch will have more tutorials on this, so maybe that will turn things around in Karl’s favor!
That said, we will continue to proactively monitor the win rate to see how it shifts and changes as a result of the latest patch. I’m very grateful to see all the positive comments about Invasion since its release, and for the suggestions and feedback people have made when they think something could be improved.
If you find any bugs in the game, please let us know through the usual support portal – it’s very useful!
In addition to the above, we just released a minor hotfix to fix the following crashes affecting some players:
- Fixed a crash with perk selection.
- Fixed an occasional crash with rendering explosive/interactive object flashes.
- Fixed a memory leak when loading levels repeatedly (Xbox only).
- Fixed an occasional crash where an injured AI could try to save (and pick up) itself.
Good luck out there Snipers!
speak quickly,
Tom

Known issues:
- M08 St Nazaire, Kill list challenge failed before the target was killed – Please note, this is just a visual flaw, so if the goal isn’t completed yet, the challenge hasn’t actually failed and can still be achieved.
- Alarms don’t turn off as expected once triggered by enemy AI
- No Stone Unturned Achievement Not Unlocked – As a short term fix, using the loud/explosive methods instead of the stealth methods will unlock this achievement.
- Missing visor – Initial studies seem to indicate that this issue is caused by too little VRAM (eg below 4 GB specification). As a workaround, we recommend lowering the texture quality settings to see if that helps (eg starting at LOW).
- GPU device is lost – A small number of players seem to have an issue causing the GPU Device was lost error. We are aware of the issue and are investigating it.
- Windows Store Crash – (On Steam for visibility purposes) – Windows Store Crash – We are still investigating the Windows error 20006 appearing for some players. If this is the case for you, we recommend that you take the following steps:
– Check One: Go to Sniper Elite 5 in the Xbox App – Go to the three dots – Click on manage – Then Files – Then select Verify and repair – Press yes
– Check two: make sure your Xbox app is fully up to date
– Check Three: If that still doesn’t work, disable ‘Use EAC’ in the options menu accessible via the cog, then run as administrator from the start menu to allow access. We think this may be a platform issue for those who pre-installed so we recommend uninstalling and reinstalling if the above doesn’t fix the problem. As a final note, we now ask players if Sniper Elite 5 is stored on C:XboxGames. Knowing this would help our research immensely. - Performance issues – We are aware of multiple reports of gameplay appearing to ‘stutter’ and frame rates dropping despite playing above minimum spec. If this is something you are experiencing please TRIPLE if you are playing above the minimum specs (if you are playing on PC) and try to play it on DX12 not Vulkan
If Rebellion posts official patch notes for update 1.09, we’ll update this post as soon as possible. Sniper Elite 5 is out now for the PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
