Insomniac Gets Spider-Man Memes – Ozzie Mejia, Friendly Neighborhood Senior Editor

Leading up to Spider-Man’s arrival on PlayStation 4, Insomniac showed that it understood exactly what it was dealing with. In today’s modern age, when you work with something like Spider-Man, that also means you work with all the memes associated with him. That’s why I got a big kick out of Insomniac co-opting this meme from the 1960s Spider-Man series to celebrate the PS4 game going gold. It was simple, it was good for a few laughs, and it showed that Insomniac got what makes the wallcrawler fun.

People turn into dinosaurs – TJ Denzer wants to turn people into Shacknews readers

Marvel's Sauron tells Spider-Man that he wants to turn humans into dinosaurs.

Okay, so this is a bit of cheating. It’s not a Spider-Man centered photo, but it is is a Spider-Man interaction, and what comes to mind the most when I think of Spider-Man. Sauron was a doctor and scientist turned into a humanoid pteranodon mutant. His fart? He wants to turn other people into dinosaur-like creatures. Why? Because he does, that’s why.

The funniest part is that Spider-Man, another scientifically inclined dude, summons Sauron on his strange plan. He claims that if Sauron only used his genius for good, he could do great things, such as cure cancer. But not Sauron want cure cancer. He wants to turn humans into dinosaurs and that’s that. It’s such a funny interaction in Marvel comics and I can’t help but laugh every time I see it.

Spider-Man pointing meme, but make it real – Sam Chandler misses Tobey

Nothing cheers me up more than seeing someone use the Spider-Man pointing meme. Spider-Man pointing to Spider-Man. It’s a classic. Sometimes those who are a little crazy even add extra Spider-Men to make the now-saved snippet from the 60s cartoon even better!

But what really brings a tear of joy to my eyes is seeing Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland recreate the iconic photo. Look at them! They are all even in their own Spidey suits. I’m sure even a photo like this would warm J. Jonah Jameson’s heart.

Tobey Maguire – Bill Lavoy Secretly Loves Spider-Man Movies

Okay, so while I don’t like superhero movies, I’ve actually been a fan of almost every Spider-Man movie, starting with the Tobey Maguire movies. Some of them are stupid, some are affectionate, and I love them just as much. Part of that is that I’m just a sucker for Spider-Man content, and another is that sometimes that ridiculousness is all I need for a hearty laugh. Like when Tobey Maguire cries, my stomach is bursting. Dude just looks funny when he opens his eyes.

Bully Spider-Man from Spider-Man 3 – Morgan Shaver, fan of Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi

I chose the infamous Bully Spider-Man from Spider-Man 3, any still image from that scene would be one of my favorite images of Spider-Man in my opinion. The older Spider-Man movies, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, are generally my favorites, and I have nostalgia for them for many reasons. One of those reasons is that there weren’t many other Marvel or big Blockbuster superhero movies to compete with at the time. There was more hype around just the Spider-Man movies themselves, and more people to share that excitement with. I still remember how many people got excited to see Spider-Man 2 or 3 in theaters, and how new something like that was at the time. Like Bully Spider-Man, it’s burned into my head forever and honestly, I don’t mind.

Lots of Spider-Men Pointing – Asif Khan, Demands More Photos of Spider-Man

A couple of animated Spider-Men pointing accusingly at each other.

My choice is better than Sam’s because there are more Spider-Men in it.
