Captain on deck!

What is it that could inspire a pirate to splash out and spend gold on a ship of their own? For starters, captains can name a new ship of their choice for everyone to see, both visible on the ship’s crest and in ship banners when someone is spying on you remotely.

Captains can also purchase a wealth of new decorative options for their abode (ranging from rugs to the Captain’s Table itself), not to mention feel the ship is truly unique by choosing places to display trinkets. A huge selection of ornaments can be purchased immediately, while trophies can be earned by establishing yourself as a consummate captain and reflecting your time at sea.

Whether you’re a dedicated treasure hunter, a fishing fanatic or just can’t get enough of crushing skellies, your actions will be reflected in Pirate and Ship Milestones, a new form of progression that encourages different playstyles. New rewards will become available along the way, and you can showcase your favorite achievements in the Captain’s Logbook, which conveniently keeps track of your current sailing session.

Shipbuilders and Monarchs

The Outposts are more than ready to handle the arrival of captained ships. For a fee, shipbuilders will save a captain’s ship customization for future sessions, meaning it will be exactly as you remember the next time you wake up in the tavern. Wear and scars from previous repairs will increase over time, so pirates can choose to restore these to the ship’s carpenter as well, restoring even the scruffiest ship to pristine condition.

Shipbuilders can also supply first-class supplies to the vessels on a captained ship. This courtesy extends to Captain’s Voyages, which are kept aboard the ship rather than in your pirates’ pockets and let you influence the difficulty and duration of your next target – so everything from a quick skeleton hunt to a lengthy, lucrative commission can be picked directly from storage.

Wanting to make sure the shipbuilders don’t get all the credit, the swanky Sovereigns have arrived at Outposts, ready to face all kinds of captains. Acting as very handy intermediaries, they accept most of the treasure in their tent on behalf of the other companies and allow manned ships to make full use of their facilities when unloading valuables.

Of course, you don’t need to be a captain to enjoy the next installments of our ongoing time-limited Adventures. These continue on August 18 with ‘A Hunter’s Cry’, which sends pirates on a risky rescue mission to hostile waters in hopes of rescuing captured hunter Merrick.

In addition to 100 levels of seasonal fame to reap, new accolades and achievements, and the ongoing intrigue of our first mystery, there’s plenty waiting in season seven for any pirate to sink their teeth into!

The Emporium is expanding

Of course, a new season brings with it a whole host of new treasures. The Season Seven Plunder Pass includes advance access to the Baleful Bloom costume – in which your pirate gradually succumbs to a horticultural hex – and the Beachcomber’s Bounty ship set, created by a stranded sailor who made himself seaworthy with everything they could get their hands on . As always, once a Pass is purchased, these items are unlocked by increasing your Fame and climbing the new season’s levels, and are initially exclusive to the Plunder Pass before arriving at the Pirate Emporium at a later date .

Eager to join in on the Captaincy fun, August’s Emporium offering introduces additional designs for Ship’s Crests, giving your newly named ship extra flair when someone — crew, boarders, stowaways, and so on — comes aboard. If your chosen name no longer seems to fit as your ship is carving out its legacy, Renaming Deeds can be purchased to scrub the Ship’s Crest clean and give you something new to choose from.

If you’re the kind of pirate who lights up dark places (rather than incendiary), the luminescent Wrecker Wrangler ship summons you this month from the Emporium shelves, paying tribute to those fleeting fish that call shipwrecks home. Meanwhile, the dashing Bilge Rat Weapon Pose Emote and the bloated Portable Portrait Emote Bundle will bring out your merry and self-centered sides. And don’t forget to catch the Promising Portrait Emote while it’s free for the taking, then use it to turn any view into a wobbly work of art!
