Since its launch in 2020, the PlayStation 5 has been ridiculously hard to get your hands on. Supply chain problems due to the coronavirus pandemic have nearly brought production of Sony’s latest games console to a standstill.
Thankfully, the stock situation has greatly improved in recent months, with PS5 bundles available in at least one store since the end of April. Game and the BT Shop, plus several independent retailers such as The Game Collection and Scan, continue to lead the way.
This avalanche of console additions continued through July, and so far it looks like the good news will continue into August and September. But while restocking is becoming more common, buying a console on its own is still a challenge, with retailers preferring to stock up on bundles over the standalone console – which sell out in the blink of an eye. We only started seeing digital console bundles in stores last month, but even those have since dried up.

Can you play Playstation games on PC?
If you’re hoping to play some of the best games the PS5 has to offer, then Playstation recently launched a dedicated page on its website for (previously) exclusive titles now available to play on PC. Expect to see fan favorites like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Days gone by appears on that list.
All of these games play under the name “Playstation Studios” and the company has been looking to enter the PC gaming space for a while now. Sony has even developed headphones and gaming monitors for the fast-growing market.

Are PS5 bundles still available from PS Direct?
If you’re hoping to pick up a new PS5 disc edition of the console, without all the bells and whistles of a bundle, PS Direct currently has some stock available for the standard edition of its consoles.
You’ll need to have an existing Playstation account to buy it, but it’s quite rare to see standalone consoles these days, so buy it while you still can.

Can you buy a PS5 from Smyths Toys?
Some stores have the occasional PS5 stock available for walk-in customers, but very few consoles are available so far this year. With Smyths Toys, the retailer has a tool on its website to check the stock in all its stores. Currently there are a handful of consoles available in various Smyths branches in the UK.

Which PS5 bundles are available from Very?
Very is currently using a pre-order system for their remaining PS5 stock, which is expected to ship around August 26, 2022.
There is currently one bundle of them available with a copy of Horizon Forbidden West as well as an additional PS5 dualsense controller. It comes to a total of € 559.98.
