Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen the multimedia franchise expand into new horizons. With this expansion comes the introduction of new characters in the previously existing corners of the Marvel movies. However, many of these brand new characters are key faces of the next generation of Marvel heroes.
Among the potential Young Avengers already introduced to the MCU are Kate Bishop, Kid Loki, Ms. Marvel, America Chavez, Cassie Lang, Eli Bradley and the Maximoff twins. However, there are many more teenage superheroes yet to make an appearance in the MCU. These are some of the biggest that may still appear in future installments.
8 iron boy
It’s a bit false to say that MCU fans haven’t been introduced to Iron Lad yet. The character is vastly different from Riri Williams, who debuts as Ironheart in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Iron Lad’s true identity is Nathaniel Richards, a descendant of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four who wears 40th-century neurokinetic armor.
However, Iron Lad’s future self has already made his MCU debut in Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. The variant of Kang that appears in Lokiwas a scientist from Earth-616, while the Iron Lad was a variant of Earth-6311. With more Kang variants appearing in future films, viewers may see a young actor portraying the Iron Lad in the coming years.
7 child prodigy
David Alleyne has been a member of many superhero teams, from the Young Avengers to the New Mutants Squad. As a mutant, his powers allow him to absorb the knowledge and skills of everyone around him, making him a powerful ally for the X-Men. Under the name Prodigy, it would be interesting to see a character like this in the MCU.
Prodigy plays a key role in joining the Young Avengers on their journeys across the multiverse. He’s also been a close ally to America Chavez, the dimension-jumping teen who debuted in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Perhaps with Marvel’s introduction of mutants to the MCU, Prodigy’s on-screen appearance isn’t far off.
6 Marvel Boy
Noh-Varr is a young Kree soldier from Earth-200080. After being stranded in the multiverse, Noh-Varr made his way to Earth-616, where he became a target of SHIELD. Soon, the Kree was turned into a government weapon, used against the Young Avengers during the superhuman Civil War.
Later, Noh-Varr took the name Marvel Boy and grew close to the Young Avengers, especially Kate Bishop. He even teamed up with them against the multidimensional parasite known as Mother. With the Kree playing a major role in Carol Danvers’ storyline, Noh-Varr may make his MCU debut in 2023 the miracles.
5 Vivian Vision
It’s unclear what the future holds for Vision, who was last seen leaving Westview after recalling his entire life in… WandaVision. If the MCU is following the comics, it won’t be long before Vision plays Scarlet Witch himself and creates his own family of synthezoids. One of those family members is his daughter Vivian, who becomes an integral young superhero.
After the collapse of her family, Vivian joins the teenage Avenger group known as the Champions, which includes Mrs. Marvel herself, Kamala Khan. It is possible that the delayed return of Vision to the MCU after WandaVision is to give him enough time to start his own synthezoid family, including Vivian’s debut.
4 Hulkling
The Hulk family is already expanding with the upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk: Lawyer. One of the main Young Avengers is the Kree-Skrull shapeshifter Theodore Altman, who later takes on the superhero persona Hulkling. In fact, the introduction of Hulkling plays an important role in the story of another MCU character.
In Marvel Comics, Theodore begins a romance with Wiccan, aka Billy Maximoff. Billy made his MCU debut alongside his brother Tommy in WandaVisionand multiverse variants of the two appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Hopefully, when Hulkling is introduced, they can adapt this LGBTQ storyline from the comics.
3 Squirrel Girl
Squirrel Girl is one of the most popular Marvel Comics characters, both for her folly and her canonical strength. Her real identity is Doreen Green, a girl born with the ability to communicate with squirrels. She becomes a huge fan of Tony Stark and later helps the hero fight the iconic Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom.
Victims of Squirrel Girl in later comics include Abomination, MODOK, and Thanos. She also joins teams such as the Great Lakes Avengers and the New Avengers. While it may be hard to take a character like Squirrel Girl seriously in the MCU, her charm can be enough to win over fans unfamiliar with the comic book character.
2 Miles Morales
Technically, Miles Morales made his on-screen debut in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The character’s existence was also mentioned in a deleted scene from Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Donald Glover as Miles’ uncle Aaron Davis. Sooner or later, the character’s MCU debut will undoubtedly take place.
It would be particularly interesting to see how Miles Morales interacts with Peter Parker after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, Peter hasn’t had a real family, so finding a brotherhood of Spider-Men and Women, even from other multiverses, would be a great future for everyone’s favorite web-slinging hero.
1 Nova
Nova’s introduction to the MCU is way overdue at this point. The origin of the character was first established in the years 2014 Guardians of the Universe with the inclusion of the Nova Corps. When Sam Alexander debuted in Marvel Comics, he succeeded the role of Nova from his predecessor, Richard Rider, and quickly became an integral Avenger in the Marvel universe.
Rumors of a Nova project have been circulating for years, most recently surfacing as a Disney+ series centered on Richard Rider. Hopefully, Sam Alexander can also make an appearance and join the Young Avengers who have already made their MCU debut. It would also be a good chance to explore the planet Xandar prior to their massacre by Thanos.
