This year’s version of the basketball game created by Visual Concepts is called NBA 2K23. Since EA ended the NBA Live series (the last installment was NBA Live 19), there has been no competition in the basketball simulation genre, but NBA 2K23 continues the trend of improvement.
The standard edition of NBA 2K23 is already available for pre-order and costs $59.99 on PC and previous generation platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) and $69.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X .
After being absent for ten years, the Jordan Challenge mode is making a comeback in this year’s iteration. NBA2K23 players will be able to relive 15 key moments in Michael Jordan’s career, from the 1982 NCAA National Championship to the 1998 NBA Finals. transition lanes and more players cutting to the basket with a numerical advantage will be made to adjust to the times.

NBA 2K23 will be released on September 9 for all platforms.
The general gameplay improvements envisioned for this iteration were also recently detailed by Visual Concepts. Player AI on next-generation platforms has better ball handling, pick-and-roll execution, defensive tendencies, and coaching ratings (PC still lags behind PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, unfortunately).
All platforms now have shot properties, giving each signature jump shot its special shot numbers that help determine how effective it is. The developers have also added five new firing meters, and 15 more will be available through Seasons over the course of the year.
The defense has also improved. Blocks have been modified to be more realistic, resulting in results that are more predictable when the right players time their block attempts correctly. In addition, Visual Concepts claims a noticeable improvement in ball security for experienced dunkers, among others.
With new Gesture Combos for both shooting and ball handling, playmakers aren’t left out. Players now have three Adrenaline Boosts in each possession, and after using them to perform a hard start or explosive sprint launch, there is a significant drop in speed and deceleration for the duration of possession. This new idea is included to discourage overdribbling. In NBA 2K23’s updated Team Takeover system, everyone on the team contributes to the operation of a single meter.
