Flip 3 > Flip 4?
Razr 5G > Razr 2022?

Oldie is still a goodie. Sometimes newer isn’t always better.

My favorite example is my PS1 over PS2. Now I love PS2. It is practically a PS1, PS2, and DVD player. But for some reason I liked owning my PS1 more. Maybe because I got my PS1 in 1996 and didn’t get a PS2 until 2003. That’s 1 year vs. 3. Even with all the ugly pixelated graphics that have gotten worse than the Super NES’s 2D graphics, the PS1 remains my console of choice. ever had.

Perhaps owning the Dreamcast in 2001 for $50 got me to ditch the $300 PS2. But by 2005, with games like Tekken 5, Gran Turismo 4, and God of War, I started loving my PS2 as much as I loved my Dreamcast. But it still never reached the level of PS1 and that played for 6 years (1996-2002). I had to replace my PS1 1001 model due to the dreaded lens problem of having to turn it upside down for it to work.

This is probably how I feel with Flip 3 over Flip 4. I think Flip 4 is just more of the same as the HTC One M8 was. It’s an improvement, but it doesn’t feel revolutionary. It doesn’t feel that fresh to me. I also prefer sequels. Like I prefer Vita more than PSP and I love my PSP. But Vita can browse much faster and can play PS2 ports. I prefer PS4 over PS3. I prefer Dreamcast over Genesis and Saturn. I prefer iPhone 4S over 4 and 5S over 5. I had many fond memories of my iPhone 4, but I’d rather go back to a 4S if I had the choice.

It all depends on your experiences with them. It’s never really about the specs. Sometimes it’s just your own personal memories attached to it.

Hold on, this thing is WIDER than Rog 6 or iPhone 13 Pro Max…

What the actual.

Arrange each folding clamshell by design

2. Motorola Razr (2019)
3. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 & 4 (2021-2022)
4. Motorola Moto Razr (2022)
5. Huawei P50 Bag (2021)
6. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip & 5G (2020)

So they’re finally making it a flagship after it’s an overpriced, under-supported lower-midrange….but dropping the iconic look that is the device’s main selling point….
At least they finally priced it more reasonably.

– it depends on your taste, I don’t think Razr 2022 looks different, same makeup case.
– don’t think so, both can do the same.
– Samsung’s OneUI is by far the best Android UI these days.
– possibly.
– nonsense.
And I’d add zero support for Razr, predictably worse battery life (Lenovo can’t get the optimization right), worse camera (another thing they’re really bad at)…
Samsung still wins by a light year.

Even 2021 Z Flip3 has longer software support than this.

b

Distinctive design gone, disappointing battery, unnecessary flagship chipset that will burn the entire phone. I don’t see how this will compete with the same offering from Samsung. I really want clamshell foldable to become the norm, and I love the unique chin of the RAZR. Now it’s just ‘differently’ foldable.

It’s DOA. Motorola gives you one big update and then forget about this device. It doesn’t matter how good a phone is. Bad software support should not be accepted by consumers. I really wish Motorola Mobility was still owned by Google.

I don’t feel like Samsung or Motorola really nailed their folding flips this year. The Flip 4 is more of the same. It has not corrected its small cover display. Although Motorola has changed it and improved the inside, the design is actually even worse. It is a copy of the Flip 3 & 4 when opened. Same hole. The same fingerprint scanner on the right. But closed it doesn’t look symmetrical with the lower right cameras and in horizontal position rather than vertical on the Z Flips.

If I was a typical consumer looking to save money, I’d recommend getting the Flip 3. Maybe for $500 or less. Even FREE with trade-in. If you don’t like the cover display, get a Razr 5G. I have both and have been using both together for almost a year. I don’t feel any urge to upgrade them. The Razr 5G costs $800, but you can find lightly used ones for $400 or less on OfferUp or eBay. Just don’t expect the smoothest performance with a Snap765G from a 2020 phone. The battery life on Razr 5G and Flip 3 is about the same. Not great, but not terrible when the Flip 3 is on 4G and 60hz.

Wait at least 3 months.

blue, 11 hours agoIn what exactly? The only advantage of Flip 4 is stronger glass and IP rating.

– Razr looks like a phone, not a makeup bag.
– Second screen is much more convenient
– no Samsung UI (obviously Android is bad too), not all that third party bloatware
– better hinge
– no performance loss after 6 months like all galaxies
