Logitech is no stranger to making gaming headsets, but the G735 is something completely different as the company aims to position this headset in a underserved market in the gaming peripherals industry.
Like the G705 and G715 we looked at earlier, the Logitech G735 is a gaming headset aimed at female gamers who identify with the game, offering the ‘Aurora’ line of peripherals that stand out from the usual range of peripherals. and accessories for games.
As such, the G735 has been designed with a specific female audience in mind, and it shows in the design language, colors and even the size of the headset itself.

Design

The Logitech G735 is striking. Not only because it doesn’t come in a standard, dark “gamer-y” colorway, but also because it looks small. This is exactly what Logitech was going for, and has been deliberately kept small and light for long-term use. Built with a combination of white faux leather and smooth, high-quality matte white plastic, it’s hard not to fall in love with this headset right away.
This is compounded by tiny, lilac button controls. The left earcup has a volume rocker, a microphone mute button, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port for charging. The left earcup lets you switch between wireless modes and instantly switch sources.
It looks fantastic, with the headphone extensions encased in metal to get your perfect fit. These are very stiff and require some pulling to slide out properly. There’s also RGB inlaid on the earcups that pulse with pastel blues and pinks that look great during home use.
There’s very little to complain about, although we wish the padding was a little softer on the top band of the headphones. Despite its lightweight appearance, it ultimately feels very sturdy and will likely stand the test of time.
We passed the headset on to our partner and it fit her head perfectly, noting that no other gaming headset she’d tried before fitted as well as the G735. They have seemingly nailed their target market.
The only issue we encountered was when we wanted to go out with the headset on, with the mic off – it’s a more lifestyle oriented headset after all. Unfortunately, Logitech’s G-Hub software is unnecessarily complex and obscure, and it took a while to figure out how to turn off all of the headset’s lights. Plus, no built-in mic in this price range is disappointing to see, and your only option is to attach the cardioid mic.
Sound quality
Dexerto
The Logitech G735 sounds fairly even, with a relatively narrow, yet even soundscape that makes it great for a wide range of use cases. We plugged the receiver into our PC and went straight into a game of Final Fantasy XIV, where everything was nice and clear, with no thumping bass looming over us and drowning out the rest of the soundstage.
You can also use this headset with Dolby Atmos and Windows Spatial sound. We also had no issues pairing the headset with our mobile device and mixing different audio sources at once. You probably don’t want to play games via Bluetooth mode, but it manages to play sound and audio very well, without any issues.
It won’t break records or sound as good as headsets like the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but it manages to do the job better than most other gaming headsets you can buy today.
Switching between modes can feel a bit clunky, with the headphones pulsating between connectivity. They take a moment to catch up. But once they do, you’re all set to wear them on your head all day long. The Logitech G735 sits firmly in the middle of the market, it’s not the best sound we’ve ever heard, but it’s definitely better than usable if you know what you’re looking for.
Microphone Quality
Dexerto
We were impressed with the microphone quality of the detachable cardioid on the G735, we didn’t sound like we were speaking through a condenser, but it certainly wasn’t tinny as we were told by our teammates on Discord who heard us loud and clear when we screamed to be revived in Apex Legends.
Like the sound quality, it sounds clearly above average, but again nothing special. It’s slightly disappointing that there’s no built-in microphone if you’re looking to use it more as a lifestyle-focused headset for taking calls on the go, and it feels like a missed opportunity.
Is the Logitech G735 good for gaming?
While connected to your PC or Mac, you can access Logitech LIGHTSPEED for a lag-free experience no matter what game you’re playing. We just loved it. However, the ear cups can get a little sweaty after use, especially after multiple failed rounds in Halo: Infinite.
Plugging in the headset via 3.5mm is also an option when the battery runs out, which happened several times when we were testing the headset, as it only has a 16-hour battery life while using LIGHTSPEED. It feels like Logitech could have done a little more to improve the battery life of this headset.
They claim the G735 will last 56 hours without RGB on and while not using Lightspeed, but getting there is a huge hassle, and the majority of users won’t tinker with it that much.
Should you buy it?
At a relatively steep $229, we expected a little more from the Logitech G735 on a technical level. Indeed, most of the headset was clearly above average. However, in addition to having mediocre battery life at this price point, Logitech’s G-Hub software is quite disappointing.
