Developer SOFTSTARs’ Sword and Fairy series is not that famous in the West. Most of the games in the franchise are limited because they were not only available in Chinese. If you don’t, though, you can watch it with Sword and Fairy: Together Forever. Sword and Fairy 7 is a console version released on PC last year. Despite the fact that this version does not rewrite the playbook, there are some noticeable improvements that should make this package more appealing to a western audience. That said, the Word and the Fairy are The People Together, but they don’t split every song over the original. Let’s try to break the rules of the game by examining each other at the same time.

If you don’t have English voice actors, you can make the game easier. You can choose from French, Chinese, Japanese, ie subtitles, but voice acting is limited to original. The lack of additional voice dubs is somewhat disappointing considering this is supposed to be a worldwide release, although the voice acting itself is quite expressive and mostly well done. That said, I found a lot of grammatical errors in the English translation, which could sometimes distract a bit from the immersion. On the right side of the globe, the menu will still be in Chinese, which is a clear sign of shabby execution on this front.

“It’s perfectly reasonable to think about how good and evil are, but formulaic stories are a fantastic result of good and bad characters.”

With many characters under its belt, Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is a self-driven story that requires no experience to fully understand and is loved by newcomers to the series. The game takes place in a mystical world of 6 Realms, the world of humans and demons. The story revolves around a group of people trying to save the world from the wrath of Vicious Beasts who escaped Heaven Prison, leading you down a rabbit hole of discovery and conjuring evil conspiracies that could end the world perfectly. While it is a reasonable prospect of good or evil, formula stories are entertaining.

When you start the game, you play as a Xiu Wu who is sent on a mission to eradicate evil. Finally, we meet Yue Quingshu, a lone disciple of a crumbling Mingshu sect, who allows for resilience in this realm to survive. There are also Bai Moqing and Sang Yo, as well as young lovers who help Yue and Xiu in this dangerous quest. While the story itself has interesting twists and revelations, the biggest draw is the journey these characters take for the entire story. With the exception of “The Yingshu”, the remaining three seem very distant when they arrive, while they seem to fit very well into the stereotypical RPG character box, but they are starting to become more recognizable and likable. The beats of the story proved essential as they helped me through this expansive adventure. The story doesn’t have the best pace, if there are some insignificant tangents to the story.

“Sword and Fairy 7 takes the turn-based roots of previous entries and features a dynamic real-time combat system that focuses on fighting harder against your enemies.

Cloning the turn-based roots of previous entries, Sword and Fairy 7 features a dynamic real-time combat system that emphasizes unleashing a series of hard-hitting combos on your enemies. Characters have their own group of heavy and light attacks, which can be combined to create different combinations. The right trigger lets you disable your special moves. They consume magic and are combined with a cool down timer. The abundance of skills is there and you get more as you progress through the game.

It is possible to switch between group members while fighting, which gives many tactical options when fighting. Xiu Wu, Yue Quingshu, Spirit Controller and Team Healer. The two specialize in range time, while Sang Yo and Bai Moqing excel at reducing range damage. There are more effective characters than others, but their intended use is completely different in combat situations.

Overall, it’s a simple, effective combat system, but it also gives us some light feedback. A person’s reactions are rare, and toning or playing tennis are all necessary. When the game makes clever use of PS5’s DualSense to track the boss’s attack times, these instances are more likely to be exceptions than the normal scenario. Most enemies are incapable of making them feel like they’re constantly avoiding your hits as they cause them to absorb tons of damage without watching them. There are other phenomena that make the screen heavy during combat.

There are times when the game intelligently uses PS5’s DualSense to measure boss attack times, but these cases are more exceptions than the norm.

The game starts out pretty easy, but the difficulty increases over the entire time of the experience. That was one of the issues we presented when we revised the original version and it didn’t seem like it changed that aspect. Many boss fights are just tests of stamina rather than skill, giving you a frustrating experience. As in any other RPG, it takes a lot of effort for all the games involved, but Sword and Fairy 7 don’t really show how this all works. You have to constantly switch your weapons, remove weapons and destroy them from the trader’s trade. You have to equip armor sets that give different buffs, change spirits and cook food to get the desired status. This is something the enemy has been able to create, but with the ability to generate resources and combat rewards, you have a lot of great joy and it is necessary to keep up with the increasing enemy power levels.

While Sword and Fairy is not an open world game, it is split into multiple open artifacts and dungeons. You can explore it at your best. In addition to the general supply of merchants and loot supplies, you can also participate in side missions in an NPC-based order. Many of these are fetch quests. Since rewards are generous, you may not progress through the main story and can skip them at another time.

A quest – a quest, a quest is a great option and so the rewards can be incredibly generous – they are not necessary for success in the main story and so you should just skip this one.

The game is Sword and Fairy: Together Forever looks good and works very well on the PlayStation 5. The character and material are of high quality textures and the combination of lighting and reflection makes certain areas breathtaking. I think PS5 doesn’t have ray traced shadows as they are noticeably fainter than the max PC version. This is quite a problem. As such, I am aware that there are no performances to select from, which is quite a lack of one person to mention.

Fortunately, Sword and Fairy: Together Forever has many variations, from icy peaks to tropical beaches to hellish landscapes, and what not. The visuals give them a perfect treat to explore. Although I had a strong performance, the original was the biggest problem, but the games are bad in draw distance. In the early shots, I saw a lot of characters jumping in and out of space, which distracts from the otherwise quite technical details. Loading is quite fast, thanks to the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD.

The RPG Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is a good sleeved package, and while Softstar didn’t add a lot of content or drastically change the gameplay mechanics, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a solid experience worth checking out until the very end. . The lack of English voice debs is very minor, and in fact the lack of proper explanation of the mechanics of the character progression is not acceptable, as are the different types of difficulty curves. Those who have already played the game might be tempted to skip this release, but if you don’t get that much and don’t enjoy the concept or gameplay, you can just go and find it.

This game has been tested on the PlayStation 5.
