Elden Ring’s quests, like many previous FromSoftware titles, can be a bit stupid. Irina & Edgar’s quest is unusually straightforward, but takes you through a challenging area on Weeping Peninsula: Morne . Castle.
Following this quest and exploring the castle will reward you with many powerful weapons and tools for your coming journey, including the legendary Grafted Knife Greatsword. This questline doesn’t have a happy ending (like so many quests in Elden Ring), but it does offer a unique look into the countries between.

Finding Edgar in Castle Morne
Castle Morne has several side trails and the area is worth exploring as you can discover the Claymore, Steel wire torchand the Whip weapons—along with several Forging Stones and other craft materials. Beware though: Castle Morne is home to some very tough enemies, especially if you haven’t climbed much in your travels. Be prepared to take on large groups Misbegotten and dogs, with some twists thrown in for good measure. This guide follows an easy path to completing a quest, but consider exploring more if you have time.
- Take the elevator to the courtyard and don’t forget to send the elevator back down– death lurks around every corner in Castle Morne.
- Run to the other side of the courtyard and follow the wall along the left side. You pass three dogs, but they are easier to handle than the huge group of Misbegotten that surround the huge pile of bodies on the right.
- Run past the Smaller Pumpkin Head enemy and turn right. You will find another Misbegotten hacking a body on the ground.
- At the end you will find a ladder to climb up.
- Once you reach the top, a Misbegotten will immediately rush you down the stairs to the right.
- After you beat him, you want to lead it huge stairs. You will find a Misbegotten on the bridge and two flying Misbegotten. These enemies can be tough, so be careful.
- At the end of the bridge, hidden behind some barrels and boxes, you’ll find a ladder to the left.
- Go down this ladder to the landing below. Ahead, you’ll find several Misbegotten battling the knights of Castle Morne. They’re all busy killing each other, so you can probably get away with it by running through them – be careful. Go past the fight and up the stairs at the far end.
- At the top of the small tower you will find EdgarCastellan of Castle Morne.
Edgar’s Duty & The Grafted Blade Greatsword
- Deliver Irina’s letter to Edgar.
- He’ll be happy to hear that Irina survived, but he… refuses to leave Castle Morne to the Grafted Knife Greatsword is protected from the Misbegotten threat.
- From Edgar’s tower, run back over the parapets to the end. It may seem like a dead end, but if you jump over the wall to the left you will find a very welcome one place of grace.
- After resting, head down. In the distance you see a tree on a small island. That is your destination.
- Continue descending the broken walls, fighting enemies and looting corpses as you go. You will eventually fall from a bridge onto the roof of a tower.
After reaching the bottom, make sure you place of grace just next to the base of the tower – it is on the lower structure, just before it reaches the beach below.
From here you can access the golden boss is missing down on the beach.
Leonine Misbegotten Boss Fight
This boss is a tough fight, especially if you are still relatively low. If you haven’t already, consider returning to the Roundtable Hold (or Church of Elleh) to upgrade your weapons with all the Smithing Stones you have encountered on your travels.
Just outside the boss fight, you will be able to call Castellan Edgar. He can help a lot with this fight as the Leonine Misbegotten is a very aggressive opponent with unequally timed attacks. the ability trade aggro with Edgar can give you the time you need to heal and prepare for your next attack.
After defeating the boss, you will receive the legendary weapon, the Grafted Knife Greatsword.
Complete Edgar & Irina’s Questline
- With the Grafted Blade Greatsword in hand, back to Edgar on the tower at Castle Morne. He will thank you for releasing him from his duty to the knife (you can still keep it, of course), and he will then go to meet Irina on the road.

This may seem like the end of the quest, but there’s actually one last piece: it only comes later in the game, after reaching Liurnia of the Lakes.
