Frankfurt, Germany, August 9, 2022 /CNW/ — Gunzilla Games, a AAA game studio, today announced that it has completed a total of $46M in their latest investment round. This new round of investment allows the studio to build out their new platform called GunZ, giving players more power by giving them full ownership of their in-game assets. GunZ will be the basis for “Off The Grid” (OTG). One of the standout mechanics of the OTG is “in-game item trading”, the first game where players can buy new in-game items from other players who have collected them or got them from each other in-game. Trading will be handled through an internal blockchain-based marketplace or a third-party marketplace that supports NFT technology. This investment round is led by Republic Capital. Other key participants include Griffin Gaming Partners, Animoca Brands, Jump Crypto, Raptor Group, CoinFund, Shima Capital, Dominance Ventures, GSR, Kucoin Labs, Spartan Investment Group, AlphaCrypto Capital, Blizzard, Digital Strategies, Morningstar Ventures, Gamegroove Capital, NGG and Huobi Group, which will also assist in the maintenance of the project’s technical infrastructure. Notable angel investor and advisor include: Justin Kanco-founder of Twitch.
Gunzilla assures gamers that they will never sell NFTs directly to their player community, nor will they hide progress or game features behind a paywall, trading is completely optional. Gunzilla believes that the GunZ platform has the potential to radically change the core gaming experience for players, and those who are not interested in trading can completely skip this feature and just enjoy the full game for free and with no restrictions.
Vlad KorolevCEO and co-founder of Gunzilla, explains: “We strive to give players complete freedom in every detail of OTG and every step of the gameplay. In OTG, in addition to the core gameplay, players can trade owner and their in-game items with other players. And assuring players that their hard-earned items remain theirs no matter what. In today’s free-to-play games, if you pay for something, it’s not yours. You don’t own anything. Anyone can own the Read the EULA of every game to verify this. For example, if you are banned, any item can be taken from you even if your ban is accidental. When you stop playing free-to-play games, the money you put in it also disappears. We are reinventing the system, putting the power back in the hands of gamers and using blockchain technology to make this possible. With OTG and GunZ we are creating a universe that will set a new standard for the industry.”
Players can also take their items out of the game. As OTG’s universe continues to evolve, gamers will discover new items every time they play. In-game items that players can trade include the unique characters that players create themselves, custom weapons, clothing items, and accessories.
This investment round follows the recently released teaser trailer of Gunzilla’s new game OTG, a third-person shooter AAA Battle Royale 2.0, led by the studio’s Chief Visionary Officer and Oscar nominee. Neill Blomkamp. A free-to-play (F2P) title, OTG, has a strong narrative focus with unique gameplay mechanics and is set to be released in 2023 on next-generation platforms.
Brian Johnsona Senior Director of Republic Capital, said: “The Gunzilla team is nothing short of amazing, with industry veterans contributing to games that many of us grew up playing. We believe that free-to-play is rampant and that through combining it with an Optional Crypto component, Gunzilla will lead by example by marrying the Crypto and gaming world. There is no doubt that the future of Crypto gaming should include next-gen consoles, and we believe Gunzilla will do this with convenience will make it happen.
