Watchdogs 2 is a great game that players can try out on Xbox Game Pass. Marcus Holloway and his group of DedSec hackers are a joy to deal with, providing a fresh change of pace from the dark and grim atmosphere that constantly haunted its predecessor. The game features a lot of stats for players to keep track of, including things like research points and followers.
Followers essentially represent the total experience that Marcus has. Raising this is important to unlock certain missions and also unlock research points that can help improve Marcus’ skills. It is important to max out both numbers to unlock everything that Watchdogs 2 has to offer, and here are some ways to increase the influx of both Followers and Research Points.
Complete the main missions
The best way to gain followers and unlock more research points in Watchdogs 2 is to just complete the main missions. These provide a lot of followers at once that can give a significant boost to a player’s level.
It helps that these main missions are extremely well constructed and a joy to play through. There are very few main missions that feel trite or half-baked, and the vast majority of them deliver plenty of story and gameplay highlights.
Join as many side missions as possible
The side missions in Watchdogs 2 are quite nice in their own right. They have their own dose of unique off-brand humor and engaging action sequences to make them worth trying.
Most side missions also sometimes focus on completely different aspects of the gameplay, serving as a fresh change of pace from the usual structure of the main missions. The fact that players gain followers by completing these side goals is the icing on the cake and serves as a perfect reason why players should perform these activities to level up as quickly as possible.
Take photos for the ScoutX app
Watchdogs 2 is a brilliant replication of San Francisco, with several landmarks that the player can engage with as well. This basically leads players to wander through the game world and view the various landmarks and the like marked on their map.
These places have been carefully constructed, encouraging players to take photos of these areas to increase their following. It’s a simple and great way to participate in the beautiful open world of Watchdogs 2.
Find research points in the open world
For the most part, players gain Research Points as they level up Marcus and gain as many followers as possible. However, some people may find collecting these research points a bit tedious if followers are the only thing controlling their acquisition.
Fortunately, Ubisoft realized that simply limiting Research Points to Followers can be a bit of a letdown for some people. Fortunately, there are also several research points in the game world that players can access after searching for secrets. It is a simple yet great way for players to participate in the game world and gain significant gameplay advantage for it.
Use Driver SF app to complete driving missions
The Driver SF app is an ingenious move by Ubisoft to encourage players and let them drive around the world to see the sights, while also interacting with this traversal mechanic. It basically turns Marcus into a glorified Uber driver tasked with taking other NPCs to different destinations.
Players start with a 5-star rating and must maintain it by driving safely, maintaining a speed that is neither too high or too low, and reaching a passenger’s destination on time. There are several Driver SF missions scattered around the map, and they are quite fun to deal with, although players will need to be wary and take appropriate vehicles to handle some of the more challenging taxi rides in the game.
Participate in races
The world of Watchdogs 2 is littered with side activities that allow players to brush up on certain skills while earning valuable followers and money. The various races that players can participate in serve as one of those ways for players to participate in some fast-paced thrills with rewarding results.
These races include eKarts, motocross, sailboats and sailing, all of which are quite fun in their own right. Some races may be more challenging than others, but players who can persevere until the end of each set of races will enjoy some great bonuses indeed.
Participate in online missions and events
Watchdogs 2 integrates many online components to give players the best of both worlds. Online operations is something that most people deal with over and over again, with the objectives being generated randomly and never ending.
If players get bored of these Online Operations, there are other activities to participate in as well. Both Bounty Hunter and Hacking Invasions are fun to do and make for a great time.
Watchdogs 2 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
