It was back in 2008 That rock star released his latest entry in the HD universe, GTA IV. The game grew into Rockstar’s already solid foundation and launched the company and franchise to greater heights. But the game never got a remaster or remake for which it was planned in the later years when the idea was canned. But fans aren’t giving up hope, as they’ve recreated a GTA IV concept trailer on the Unreal engine 5.
GTA IV Fan Concept for the Unreal Engine 5
Rockstar Games launched GTA IV and the franchise has been widely acclaimed by fans and critics alike. The open world action genre grew steadily and GTA IV did it with its incredible visuals, CPU intensive ragdoll physics and compelling storyline all of which made GTA IV one of the best games of 2008.
Rockstar didn’t end it there as we got a lot more interesting additions to the mix with some standalone DLC storylines like the lost and damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony all of which were related to the GTA IV storyline at one time or another.

But GTA V built on the success of the franchise and eclipsed the old tile, becoming the best-selling Rockstar title to date. While GTA V could enjoy three generations of platforms on the PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One, and comes in the future, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|SGTA IV is still stuck on older hardware and only getting a release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Rockstar was apparently in the works for a GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption Remaster or Remake, but both projects were canned at the release of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Remake.
There is speculation that the company was heading in a similar direction to GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Remake, which was already pretty poorly received. Since it was a colossal failure, Rockstar has canned the GTA IV remake and set all its manpower for the upcoming GTA 6, which still doesn’t have a trailer or announcement date. Meanwhile, fans can enjoy what it would be like to play a GTA IV Remaster or Remake, or GTA VI for that matter.

TeaserPlay is a Youtube channel that is quite famous in the GTA gaming community for creating trailers and concept videos for hypothetical video game projects using the visuals and features of the Unreal Engine 5.
The latest video upload by TeaserPlay shows what freedom city could look like it has a new game engine, improved textures, geometry, better reflections and Ray traced lighting. The Youtuber showed Niko Bellic slowly wandering the streets of Liberty City, showing what the game could have looked like in both cutscenes and in-game.
This isn’t TeaserPlay’s first project. The Youtuber has been making GTA concept videos for a while, including one that recreated the iconic Cluckin Bell scene where big smoke orders his big meal. The Youtuber also made a video in which he imagines what the potential is Grand Theft Auto 6 would look like if it took place in Vice City.

The trailer kicks off with some great views of Liberty City’s skylines, and they seem pretty photo-realistic to say the least. Everything is perfect about the intro with the iconic GTA IV theme in the background and the draw distance stretching far and wide with a bluish tinge of fog as the sun shines brightly.
The images seem to be straight from real life, but then there are things that TeaserPlay overlooks every now and then. The roof shows in the first seconds an American flag that seems to show no movement, which breaks the convincing illusion a bit. The scene then switches to a close-up of a not-so-Niko Bellic-looking character wearing his iconic attire and walking through the brightly lit metropolitan area of Liberty City at night.
The sun shimmers perfectly over the subway station and the trains that look a lot like Spider-Man Remastered on PC. Niko continues his monologue as we see more rooftops with a helipad and helicopter as smoke blows from the vents. There is a bit of attention to detail here.

The trailer shows the beautiful Ray-Traced sunbeams at the golden hour. Then the video depicts the underground section of the subway station with some lens flares and gloomy lighting similar to the effects used in The Phantom Pain. Next, we’re introduced to Niko Bellic, who walks from the iconic third-person perspective through the dark neon-lit streets of what’s depicted as Liberty City as the rain pours down. But there doesn’t seem to be any pedestrians or traffic.
Overall, this trailer looked pretty impressive considering the graphics fidelity and features the Unreal Engine has. TeaserPlay worked hard to create this concept trailer. Though there were some flaws here and there, like a still American flag and an uninspiring custom Niko Bellic character model.

It’s a big improvement over its former GTA San Andreas concept trailer which did a great job showing off Unreal Engine 5’s features but lacked the authenticity of the GTA San Andreas Grove Street Families characters and the Cluckin’ Bell setting . The concept trailer looked promising and we hope to see and cover more of TeaserPlay’s creations as he improves at what he does best.
GTA IV Concept trailer looks great, but where’s the remake?
These concept videos are quite entertaining and give us a glimpse of what the future of the GTA franchise could look like with the upcoming GTA 6, which doesn’t have any details on the internet.
Unfortunately, Rockstar won’t be making a GTA IV remake anytime soon. We may get to see one in early 2030 and visit Liberty City again. But it’s possible we’ll get to see a remade Liberty City in GTA 6, as some insiders claim that GTA 6 will get new cities over time in the form of DLC updates, which Rockstar will once again focus on with the release of the expected title.

Even if a true GTA IV remake never comes to fruition, fans may at some point experience Liberty City as an updated version. Indeed, Liberty City could be a prime candidate as one location in GTA 6.
GTA IV is available for: PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
So what do you think of the GTA IV concept trailer for Unreal Engine 5? Do you think there will be a Liberty City release for GTA 6 in the future? Let us know in the comments below. We upload daily on Appuals, so stay tuned for more. Until then, see you later and goodbye.
