Sony and Microsoft announced in September that the next round of video games are coming and leaving their respective subscription platforms, just in time to fill these final weeks of summer with some quality gaming. As always, we’ll be including everything both companies have confirmed so far, but it’s always possible that more games will come or go over the course of the month. We’ll start with Sony’s PlayStation Plus service, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers can scroll down to see what’s new on their platform of choice.
Everything entering and leaving PlayStation Plus in September 2022
PS Plus players are getting a respectable roster of free games added to their libraries this month. All subscribers can get three free PS Plus Essentials, including the arcade racer Need for speed heatArc System Works’ Fantasy Themed Fighting Meets RPG Granblue Fantasy: Versusand Touma stylish adventure game about photography.
PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will also get a host of new games in the PS Plus game catalog starting September 20, including the award-winning PS5 shooter death loopcritically acclaimed adventure game Chicory: a colorful storyand more, including some Ubisoft published games like Rayman Legends, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, Watchdogs 2and Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Finally, PS Plus Premium subscribers can play several new games in the Classics catalog, including: Siphon filter (PS1), Toy Story 3 (PSP), a Kingdom of Paradise (PSP). These three games have enhanced visuals, rewind, fast save, and video filtering options. The PS3 versions of several Sly Cooper franchise titles will also be added to the catalog, which will be playable via cloud streaming.

Everything leaves PS Plus in September 2022 (so far)
As always, last month’s PS Plus Essentials disappear just before the new stuff comes in. You can continue to play these games even after they leave PS Plus Essentials, as long as you add them to your library before September 5 and you have an active PS Plus subscription.

Sony has not announced which games (if any) will be leaving the Game Catalog of Classics collection this month, but they will likely announce those changes around September 20.
Everything coming to Xbox Game Pass and Games with Gold in September 2022
There are four free games available this month for Xbox Games Pass and/or Games with Gold.
From September 1, you can add the tough Dark Souls-inspired action RPG Gods will fall and amusement park management sim Thrillville to your Xbox One or Series X/S game library.
After that, two more games will be added on September 16: Double Kick Heroes—an arcade-style scrolling shoot-em-up with a heavy metal vibe — and the Xbox 360 version of Portal 2. Portal 2 is a notable addition, as Microsoft previously announced that September will be the last month to include Xbox 360 games in the Games with Gold monthly lineup. Consider Portal 2 is one of the best games ever made, it’s a worthy latest addition to the console library, plus you can play it with the Xbox One and Series X/S backwards compatibility improvements.
Don’t forget to add Games with Gold games to your library during their available dates if you want to keep playing them after they’ve been removed.
Several games will also be added to the rotating Game Pass catalog in September, including the much-loved space exploration game Outer Wilderness September 15 for Xbox Series X/S owners. The long awaited adventure game Slime Rancher 2 also joins the catalog for free on the release date, September 22. Check out the lists below for the full selection.
