THQ Nordic held a massive 45 minute digital showcase this morning highlighting over 20 upcoming titles, including some exciting brand new announcements.
You can catch up on the whole show here, but we’ve also made an overview below so you can see everything at a glance and jump straight to the best stuff (e.g. SpongeBob SquarePants):
HandyGames Gifts
First up was a standout role from developer and publisher HandyGames with some of their recent and future titles including Endling: Extinction is Forever, De-Exit: Eternal Matters, Airhead, Perish, A Rat’s Quest, Lethal Honor: Order of the Apocalypse and a mobile port of Wreckfest.
A Rat’s Quest looks particularly cool as a small third-person adventure/platformer starring, well, a rat.
Alone in the dark
It’s a shame that the game and some screenshots were leaked before THQ Nordic’s show, but hey, we’re getting another Alone in the Dark. This series helped pioneer quite a few horror video game concepts if you believe the right people. This new entry is a “loving reimagining” set in a mansion in the Gothic American South with two playable characters.
No release date has been announced, but the game is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Destroy all humans! 2: Re-probed
Another look at the upcoming Destroy All Humans remake! 2, with a look at the frenetic and action-packed invader gameplay. It will be out very soon on August 30th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Space for sale
A new announcement of a super cute space sim where you, a little astronaut, buy your own solar system and build houses for alien customers on exotic and dangerous planets. It doesn’t matter if you’re basically playing an intergalactic landlord, this one looks neat.
Space for Sale is coming to PC “soon”.
gothic remake
A brand new, in-engine trailer for the remake of the original Gothic. Time will tell how well the outdated action RPG will be reinterpreted for a new generation, but it sure looks good.
Gothic Remake is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Jagged Alliance 3
A new trailer for the next in the strategic turn-based series. This new trailer presents a bit of story context for the game, where you hire a team of unique mercenaries to rescue Grand Chien’s president, who was kidnapped by a paramilitary force known as “The Legion”. There’s also a ton of gameplay footage showing off the tactical combat and weapon and character customization.
Jagged Alliance 3 is coming to PC soon.
the brave
The Valiant is an RTS set across Europe during the Fifth Crusade, featuring a bloody campaign and both co-op and competitive multiplayer.
Coming soon on PC.
Storm Rises
Another classic RTS, this time in an alternate war scenario from history. Three factions compete for a new and powerful substance called Tempest, and it’s up to players which faction they choose. Very old-fashioned RTS vibes, but with a modern look, it’s coming to PC next year.
Knights of Honor II: Sovereign
Fight for control of Europe in this medieval grand strategy game. You must both rule the destiny of your people and determine the destiny of your people, as well as take part in action-packed RTS battles.
Coming soon on PC.
Outcast 2: A New Beginning
A new take on the sequel 20 years in the making, Outcast 2 – A New Beginning is an action-packed open world adventure filled with unique aliens to meet (and photograph). Cutter Slade is back, baby!
Coming soon for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Wreckage
A very exciting new announcement – the team behind Dangerous Driving and Dangerous Golf are back with another wreck-tastic racing game. This time it’s a 400 square kilometer sandbox where you and your friends can create huge and impossible racing playgrounds to destroy completely. It’s like Trackmania meets Burnout and I can’t wait.
Wreckreation is coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
away from the hunter
A new take on what seems to be the most in-depth and productive hunting game yet. Explore beautiful habitats, discover beautiful and rare wildlife, then shoot them in the face to help your struggling family business.
Way of the Hunter comes to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next week on August 16, 2022.
AEW: Fight Forever
I’m not a wrestling fan, but people seem to be really excited about this. The title “Fight Forever” implies it’s some sort of endless runner/wrestling combo, but apparently that’s just a title – this looks like real wrestling. There are also crazy mini-games! Also the trailer makes me want pizza?
AEW: Fight Forever is coming soon to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Switch.
Stuntfest: World Tour
Stuntfest looks like a mix of Ubisoft’s Riders Republic, Forza Horizon’s Hot Wheels expansion, and Destruction Derby. That’s a winning combination if you ask me. There’s also a free play test this weekend, so don’t miss out!
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake
SpongeBob SquarePants is back! After recreating the beloved Battle for Bikini Bottom, Purple Lamp Studios is back with a everything new SpongeBob platforming adventure. It looks just as charming as the previous one, but this time the platform gameplay should be less bothered by the past. It also looks beautiful.
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is coming soon to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
South Park
THQ Nordic had one last, quick tease before signing off, and it’s one I’m sure most of us didn’t see coming. Yep, a brand new South Park game is in development at “South Park Digital Studios”. Exciting things!
