In the world of TarkovThere are several bosses that come in all shapes and sizes. From the stealthy, underhanded cultists to the all-encompassing, gun-blazing Goons, there are plenty of threats for players to face with any attack they dare to take. Each boss character has their own skills, weapons and behavioral traits, often making them a nightmare to fight, but taking the prize among them for being the toughest boss in the world. Tarkov?

8 Reshala

Reshala is probably the first boss players will encounter in their earliest Tarkov raids. This is because it exists exclusively within the borders of Customs, a card that many consider to be the ‘start card’ in Tarkov. He’s a cocky, cunning character who won’t go anywhere without his guards, who are there to make fighting him an absolute chore. Once the guards are knocked out, however, Reshala isn’t that threatening, and depending on where he spawns, he can easily be knocked out.

There are two locations Reshala can occupy at Customs: Dorms and New Gas. If he’s in dorms, it’s a matter of wandering through the door and ‘firing the whole crew with the point’ or leaning through a doorway and taking them one by one. When he is with New Gas, there are several “peeks” that can be used to gain an edge over the entire five-man unit. It’s a matter of shooting accurately and keeping it low, but in the end Reshala is a relatively easy kill.

7 Tagilla

Tagilla is a terrifying boss when he is discovered early or by surprise, but in reality he is a teddy bear. He is one of the few bosses to spawn without guards, and he only appears on the smallest map in the game – Factory. He will most likely emerge from behind a crate while wielding his signature sledgehammer, but if a player goes in well equipped, it shouldn’t be that hard at all to kill him.

When a player encounters Tagilla for the first time, it will most likely result in a burst of blind fire in his high armor or facemask, which usually won’t do much. Tagilla’s weakness is his legs, but it takes a few shots to take him down. As a boss, Tagilla has one of the highest health in the game – a whopping 1220 HP.

6 Cultist Priest

For many players, the Cultist Priest will never, ever be seen. This could be for two reasons: either the player doesn’t raid at night, or they just didn’t run into the cultists. They have a remarkably low chance of spawning – just 2% on some cards, and they only spawn at night. However, if they spawn and they happen to notice the player, it can be a horrifying experience.

Not much is known about the cultists and their mysterious behavior, but what? is are known to be terrifying. They spawn in groups of three to five, with one Cultist Priest in charge. They are usually all the same, choosing to hide in the darkness and strike with knives as one silent force, but the priest is a different race. He wields a poisonous blade that will damage a player long after they win the fight, assuming they can win it at all…

5 Plumbing

By numbers alone, Sanitar is the toughest boss in Tarkov, with 1270 horsepower and two heavily armed guards. However, there are several tricks that can be used to kill him with relative ease, provided the attacking player is well armed and generally good at play. Sanitar spawns on Shoreline, which is an inherently dangerous, PvP-focused map, and he can appear completely randomly in three different locations.

It’s important to try and kill Sanitar’s guards first, but since they have medical backgrounds, both Sanitar and his henchmen are experts in healing. If a player gives them a reprieve, they will run into a dark corner and patch themselves up immediately. They can also use injectors that apply buffs at any time, increasing the danger of the fight. Must spawn Sanitar at ‘Pier’ or ‘Village’, players can snipe him and his guards, but if he shows up in ‘Resort’ it could make for a much tougher battle.

4 killa

Killa is Tagilla’s brother, but he is a very different breed. He spawns on Interchange, which is already a pretty scary map for new players, but the real kicker is that he can spawn almost anywhere and at any time. He’s not tied to super-specific locations like other bosses, and he can literally pop up where he least expects. Not only that, but he’s also a bull’s eye, often carrying a weapon with a massive magazine and wearing some of the strongest, coolest armor in the game.

Unfortunately, killing Killa is a serious task for any player regardless of their experience in Escape from Tarkov. He’s one of the toughest bosses for the sole reason that he’s so dramatically unpredictable, and it’s nearly impossible to know where he’ll appear next. If he can be caught off guard with a powerful shot to the back of the head or thorax, he should be knocked down with relative ease, but knocking him over is an overwhelmingly arduous task.

3 shturman

Shturman appears on Woods, one of the widest and most open maps in all Tarkov. He’s a weak boss when it comes to his HP and armor count, but he’s remarkably powerful when it comes to his attacking ability. He will spawn in one place, and only one place, which is a fact that makes him a little easier to deal with – or avoid altogether. It’s worth spawning in an offline raid and practicing killing Shturman, or another boss, for that matter.

Unfortunately for inexperienced players, dealing with Shturman’s long-range abilities is an outright nightmare, as he can kill a player without them ever knowing he was there. In addition, his two guards are typically heavily armored and wield equally capable weapons that can eliminate a target at staggering distances. If a player pushes close, they will be flooded with grenades, and if they attempt to intervene at a great distance, they will be countered. It is an extremely difficult situation for all involved.

2 The Goons

The Goons are the newest bosses in Escape from Tarkov, and they are equal parts awesome and horrific. They consist of three special forces soldiers, each of which has different equipment and attributes. First up is Knight, a skull-bearing terror with 1120 HP and the unnerving ability to kill all at once. Then there’s Birdeye, a great sniper with a penchant for sitting back from the action. Finally, there’s Big Pipe, a bearded, hulking individual who prefers a spinning grenade launcher…

When a player encounters The Goons – who can spawn on one of four different maps – they are in for a tough fight. However, there are tactics that can be put to good use, but unfortunately they almost always require the player to be ‘noticed’ by the trio. Ultimately, this group ticks all the boxes: short-range skills, long-range skills, and high-tech equipment.

1 gluchar

Glukhar is an insanely tough boss, who resides on Reserve, the military base-style map that also features horrors like the Raiders. He is a soldier through and through who has formed a close bond with his followers, who are willing to sacrifice themselves to protect him. As if that wasn’t enough, players must face the fact that Glukhar spawns with no fewer than six guards, all of whom can appear with high-level gear.

However, it doesn’t stop there. As a highly skilled soldier, Glukhar is a bull’s eye and can appear with a weapon that any player can use with a single tap. In addition, his minions can take positions on powerful, mounted weapons, and as a group, they can spawn in one of four locations, often without warning. They can capture a target almost instantly and they kill anything without prejudice.

Escape from Tarkov is currently available on PC.
