- The cult and sanitation problems
Whether it is a house, a campsite or a cult complex, it must be kept clean. Anyone who’s been to an outdoor music festival knows how ugly this can get, and that’s part of the challenge in Massive Monster’s Cult of the Lamb. Keeping the cult’s headquarters clean and tidy will keep worshipers happy and healthy, work hard, and generate loyalty and divinity for the glory of the Lamb.
Early in the game there won’t be as many options when it comes to cleanliness, but as the cult progresses, the Lamb will be able to build more sophisticated buildings and cook higher quality meals for their followers. Doctrine choices can also help keep the area clean by making it easier to bury followers or by making them more resistant to simple foods.
The cult and sanitation problems
Cultists are going to make some nasty messes, and disease will soon follow unless they are cleaned up. In addition to spreading disease, a filthy cult headquarters can also make followers unhappy and make it easier for dissidents to spread false rumors and sow discontent. All followers of the Lamb have qualities, and some are more susceptible to unsanitary conditions than others.
vomit
Where there is food there is vomit, and given the low quality of the early recipes available, there really should be more of it. Several early dishes that the Lamb will use to support the Cult in the early stages of building the compound have a decent chance of sickening followers.
Players will see the green germ icon hovering over an ugly puddle, and unlike poop, vomit can only be cleaned up and has no redeeming value.
Dead bodies
There is a ritual available that allows the Lamb to resurrect followers, which is a way to avoid having to prepare and bury the dead. Followers can and will die of old age, while others are sacrificed or die of disease.
There is a doctrine that allows in-cult murder, which is another reason why the player may be confronted with a corpse. A follower’s dead body can be buried, assembled, or harvested for their flesh, depending on what kind of cult the Lamb has built.
fertilizer
Everyone poops, including the cultists, but this poop can be recycled as fertilizer or even food, depending on the circumstances. Certain foods cause followers to poop more than others, so be careful with those high-fiber dishes that usually consist of vegetables.
There’s a lot of poop in it cult of the Lamb, but it can be used as a fertilizer for the crops or as a cooking ingredient, so no total loss.
Burnt food
Like vomit, this is the only mess that has no use other than to be cleaned up. Cooking can be tricky, especially if the crowd is large, and any dish made when the bar is outside the green cooking bar will burn. It’s dirty and followers will complain, and yet no one wants a mess in the kitchen.
Sanitary facilities and buildings
Before the Lamb can build buildings to help clean up, they can do it themselves manually or assign a follower to patrol the grounds with a broom and a dustpan. After certain buildings are completed, followers automatically take on cleaning tasks and all subsequent buildings can be upgraded.
- body pit. A simple grave for a single corpse. This is one of the earliest structures the Lamb can unlock.
- Green bin. Fill this handy container with grass to make fertilizer for crops.
- Fertilizer Silo. Collect poop from the compost bin and outhouse and keep it here to use with farming plots.
- Natural burial. It looks like a compost bin and works the same way, but it’s for dead bodies.
- Outbuilding. A simple yet effective way to prevent cult members from defecating all over the property. This still needs to be cleaned up, but at least it’s all in one place.
- Concierge station. Essentially the tool closet, this little hut contains cleaning supplies and supplies to help the minions clean up after themselves.
- healing bay. Sick minions can heal with bed rest, but using a Healing Bay is much faster. If the Lamb has to help many sick followers at once, it is helpful.
Doctrines and sanitation
Herd sanitation can be improved by incorporating certain helpful teachings. These can help with corpse clearance, food supply, or work ethic.
- Return to Earth. Related to the Doctrines of the Afterlife, followers can be composted after they die instead of being buried or eaten by other cult members.
- Grass Easter property. Normally, the Grassy Gruel recipe has a 25% chance of making a character sick and making a mess in the compound, but this doctrine takes that possibility away and makes it safe to eat.
- Ritual of the Resurrection. It’s a dramatic solution to the problem of what to do with a corpse – just bring that follower back to life. However, Rituals’ cooldown means players can’t rely on it completely.
Cult of the Lamb is currently available on PC, macOS, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
