To grow their cult, the Lamb will have to take on some construction projects. Here’s how to gather the necessary materials.
Cult of the Lamb is a cute twist on the horror roguelike. When our furry little friend has had enough of crusades in the wild, they can relax in the cult headquarters with a bonfire, a tithing ritual, a glorious feast, or perhaps a good old-fashioned sacrifice. Before the Lamb can enjoy this, however, they have to take up a few construction projects and for that the necessary materials must be gathered.
Some of these building materials can be collected in dungeons, as drops from killed enemies, as gifts from NPCs, or as rewards in certain rooms. Certain special resources unlock certain locations or NPCs once the Lamb finds them, while others need to be refined and initiated. Here’s a guide to building materials in: Cult of the Lamb.
Some of the items needed to complete buildings are less conventional craft materials, such as flowers or cobwebs, and these items can only be found in certain places. The Lamb will not encounter certain materials until they have enough followers to unlock the higher Crusade levels.
Construction materials
There is a wide variety of buildings that the Lamb can use to make their compound more attractive, and an equally impressive list of materials they need to collect to do so. Some materials are more durable and valuable than others, but they are more expensive, take longer to produce and often require more complex buildings for refining and dedication method.
The building materials that come from plants, except the wood of trees, can be grown in the garden alongside the vegetables, provided the Lamb has obtained the seeds. They fall into the Crusade rooms, but they can also be purchased from various stores and vendors.
Plants
- Grass is one of the first sources the Lamb will encounter. It falls almost everywhere, and the player will pick up a lot of it just by clearing the brush. It is useful not only for early recipes, but also used on plots and various types of decorations.
- camellia: This simple red flower is more important than it looks. The Lamb will encounter them for the first time in Darkwood and hopefully pick up some seeds from the plants they cut. Not only are they used in the construction of a Healing Bay, but they also cost a few flowers each time someone is treated with them.
- Menticide Mushroom: The Lamb will go and look for mushrooms in the dark, decaying forest of Anura. These mushrooms are used for certain decorations and an extensive brainwashing ritual, and are also a valuable asset for certain NPCs.
Metal and stone
- lumber is a simple resource that players find early in their crusade and is used for almost everything. It can be initiated into: Wood boards, used in later stages for more complex buildings.
- Stone: Another basic building block of cult life, the sacred version of this material is: stone blocks. They are just as important as lumber and wooden planks for upgrading buildings.
- gold nuggets: gold coins and gold bars are produced from gold nuggets using the refinery. Gold bars are important for structures, including some needed for quests or simply to impress and intimidate followers.
- Crystal Shards: Crystal Shards, found in the dark corridors of Anchordeep, are mostly decorative, but are also required for some essential structures. The residents of the Lighthouse at Pilgrim’s Passage eventually need them for a quest.
Organic
- shit is easy to find around the compound, which is one of the advantages of one of mankind’s oldest building materials. Reminiscent of a time when houses were made of sod and held together by manure, Poop is needed to make living structures for cultists, even the more beautiful. Unlike other materials, Poop is not something players will find during Crusading.
- bones: Although it is mainly used for temple rituals, where almost everyone needs a bone offering, this material is also widely used in decorations and buildings. This resource starts to drop at the very beginning, and it’s one that players should pick up whenever they can.
- Spider silk will appear after the Lamb has progressed sufficiently in his crusade to visit Silk Cradle. It’s mainly used in decorations as opposed to essential buildings, but it can only be picked up during a crusade, so it’s worth collecting a few to save for later use.
