Arguably the coolest (and most flexible) type of superpower you can have in a video game is that of psychic abilities. Whether looking into the future, telekinesis, telepathy or psionic abilities are: always cool and fun to play with. Many video games have changed what it means to have a character with psionic abilities, mixing in unique gifts and knowledge elements to expand these psionic characters.

10 Alex Chen (Life is Strange: True Colors)

Alex’s abilities in Life is Strange: True Colors are not those of your classic psionic character. Telepathy is often grouped with the number of abilities a character with psionic abilities has. Alex definitely shows some form of telepathy in her ability to read strong emotions, see memories of them, and in some cases even inherit those emotions.

While not a traditional representation of psionic abilities, Alex’s abilities are still an interesting take on the power of telepathy that focuses on empathy and reading emotions rather than thoughts.

9 Jodie Holmes (Beyond: Two Souls)

Jodie is another unusual display of psionic abilities in a video game. In general, these kinds of psychic powers come directly from the character using them. For Jodie, that’s not the case. While she can somewhat control the psionic entity attached to her, Aiden, those psychic abilities are not hers.

That said, with Aiden’s help, she can perform a number of psionic abilities in the game. Such as moving objects, owning other people, reading the souls of the recently deceased and healing Jodie.

8 Mewtwo (Pokemon)

When it comes to paranormal characters, one of the first that comes to mind is the pokemon, Mewtwo. Not only is this humanoid creature a psychic type in the games, but it’s also represented by numerous psionic abilities in the movie and television show adaptations of pokemon.

One of the best-known examples of this is: Pokemon: the first movie. Mewtwo is the notable antagonist in this film and is portrayed to have psychic abilities beyond using his attacks. Mewtwo shows a powerful use of telekinesis and can also talk to others, including humans, using telepathy.

7 Daniel Diaz (Life is Strange 2)

The life is strange franchise is known for its strong lead characters who display a variety of superpowers in every installment of the series. Daniel houses the most classic display of psionic abilities when it comes to his super strength.

He is shown over the course of Life is strange 2 sharpening and strengthening his telekinetic abilities, ranging from being able to perform powerful maneuvers alone while being influenced by strong emotions to being able to levitate and manipulate inanimate and sentient beings at his will. Although many players who played on Life is strange 2 found Daniel to be a pretty annoying deuteragonist, it’s hard not to admit his powers are pretty cool.

Psycho Mantis’ psionic abilities make for a very interesting and inventive battle in Metal Gear Solid. In the game, his psychic powers can make the player’s controller vibrate and even have the ability to read their memory card. He shows a strong understanding of his powerful telepathic abilities, which makes him a fearsome, cunning adversary.

Psycho Mantis makes for an interesting character to fight as well as one that is intriguing in the game’s story. His backstory is reminiscent of the first ghost he ever looked into, which belonged to his father. He was overcome with hatred and loathing of his father’s resentment towards him as his mother died in childbirth while delivering him, in a fit of rage he burned the whole village to the ground killing his father in the process.

5 M. Bison (street fighter)

M. Bison is an antagonist in the street fighter series. His first performance is out Street Fighter II, where he was a non-playable boss for players to face. However, he became a playable character in the game’s update, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition. He is portrayed as a power-hungry person who seeks world domination as his ultimate goal.

He is the most notable user of what is known as “Psycho Power” in the… street fighter series. It is seen as dark, psychic energy which is the opposite of ‘Soul Power’. This psychic power feeds on the negative emotions of others, such as anger, hatred, and fear, to make it more effective.

4 Raz (Psychonauts)

Psychonauts is a cheerful critically acclaimed cult hit, despite not selling well after its initial release. During a summer camp for those with psychic abilities, Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, Raz begins to hone his mind-reading abilities and develop other psionic abilities, such as clairvoyance, telekinesis, and levitation.

Psychonauts also has a variety of psionic characters outside of the main character, Raz, such as Lili Zanotto and Dogen Boole. All this will help the main character in his mission to kill Dr. Loboto and his plan to remove the camper’s brain

3 Nes (earthbound)

While Ness is handy with a baseball bat, an iconic part of his character design, he also harbors a psychic ability known as PSI. This power allows him to defeat the evil Gigyas, and during the game he and his friends Paula, Jeff and Poo go in search of the eight shrines.

Ness’ power in earthbound allows him to change cosmic events, but in Super Smash Bros he is a popular player choice due to his strong psychic projectiles and combos.

2 Sabrina (Pokemon)

Sabrina is one of the most memorable gym leaders of the original eight to appear in Generation I. She uses a strong psychic team that can easily overwhelm opponents with their high speed and confusion attacks. It’s not just her though pokemon who exhibits psychic abilities, as Sabrina shares many of her team’s telekinetic abilities.
