Madden 23 focused on improving some aspects of the franchise mode due to an overwhelming amount of player feedback. Fans have been complaining for years that madden and EA shifted focus to the financially profitable Ultimate Team mode and let the franchise mode suffer.
As the NFL’s only simulation video game, the player base deserves a franchise mode worth playing. There’s nothing like taking a low overall team in the rebuilding process and turning them into a real contender. In Madden 23there just happens to be a collection of teams with potential that just need a guiding hand to achieve excellence.
8 Detroit Lions
Now the Detroit Lions barely make the cut because in many ways they are just a few pieces of a real contender for the NFC conference in the NFL. Anyone who decides to take over the team in Madden 23‘s franchise mode will have their eyes on the quarterback position and the back seven of the defense.
Looking at the roster of Lions, they have weapons on the offensive and perhaps a Top 5 or 10 unit when it comes to the offensive line. The Lions fans deserve some luck, and it feels as easy to make the team an annual contender as ever for a team that has always topped the NFL draw for as long as anyone can remember.
7 Pittsburgh Steelers
Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, manages to take average rosters and turn them into game-winning teams. The 2022 season will likely be its toughest, as the Steelers have left their Hall of Fame quarterback and have a bottom-five offense.
madden players can decide to start rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett from the start of the season and then set their eyes on building an offensive line through trades, free agency, and the NFL draft. To turn the defending unit back into the steel curtain, the linebacker and cornerback units also need to go through some upgrades.
6 Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders have a lot of trouble off the field regarding their property, so they’re taking over the team Madden 23‘s franchise mode will feel like you’re doing the rest of the NFL a big favour. As a highly talented team, the commanders suffer from typical problems that result in a lack of success.
They have yet to find a franchise quarterback, though rookie quarterback Sam Howell could grow into one. The other strange thing about their roster is that, despite their head coach being a successful linebacker in the league themselves, they have yet to find a man who can control that unit in a way that portrays excellence.
5 New York Giants
New York Giants fans are optimistic that new head coach Brian Daboll will bring some of the success he saw as the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator to another blue and red team. The reality is that Daniel Jones doesn’t seem to be the long-term answer at quarterback, Saquon Barkley hasn’t been able to stay healthy through no fault of his own, and they’re rostering one of the more disappointing receivers in the NFL in Kenny Golladay.
Other than that, the team is full of talent and just needs a few course corrections to be competitive in one of the more inconsistent divisions in the NFL.
4 Atlanta Falcons
Fortunately, anyone who chooses the Atlanta Falcons is in Madden 23 is not subject to the wild year-long suspension received by wide receiver Calvin Ridley. This means that the team has a fair amount of weapons on the offensive. Aside from figuring out whether Marcus Mariota or rookie Desmond Ridder is the answer at quarterback, the hardest task for anyone using the Falcons in franchise mode is putting together a defense that can stop other teams.
There are some good young pieces in the defensive line and AJ Terrell and Grady Jarrett are excellent in their given positions. That said, the Falcons haven’t put together a solid whole unit in decades, but madden players can change that.
3 Seattle Seahawks
The idea of using Geno Smith or Drew Lock as a quarterback in Madden 23 drives no excitement. That said, the idea of throwing at Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf on offense does. Finding a franchise quarterback isn’t easy, but the Seattle Seahawks, thanks to the Denver Broncos trade, have enough ammunition to work in the draft for a man in the position.
It’s a team with many holes, but that fanbase in the Pacific Northwest has proven that when they have a competitor on the court, it’s hard to find a place as loud and intimidating as the 12th guy they’re with. show every home game.
2 Jacksonville Jaguars
Taking charge of a team with a quarterback as talented and promising as Trevor Lawrence seems like a good idea. Of course, the salary cap situation is a bit iffy with the contract they gave wide receiver Christian Kirk, but the team has an up and coming defense and enough guns around Lawrence to make steady improvements.
Tight end is a weak point, but it can be solved in many ways. The combination of Travis Etienne and James Robinson at the running back also offers an offensive adaptability when it comes to needing close range or dynamic receiving option from the backfield.
1 Chicago Bears
This off-season sports media as a whole decided to pick the Chicago Bears as the center of negativity and pessimism. Some of it is justified because the offensive line and wide receivers lack talent, but it sounds quite hyperbolic at times. Taking over this team in franchise mode will give you a blueprint for turning them into contenders.
Not only is the backfield three players deep, but Justin Fields, Cole Kmet and Darnell Mooney are a promising attacking trio. On defense, players will also arguably get the league’s best off-ball linebacker in Roquan Smith, and a pair of Defensive rookies of the Year candidates in defensive backs Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon.
Madden NFL 23 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
