One of the best genres to play on mobile is an old-fashioned card game, or even a TCG. Games like Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic the Gathering work extremely well on a touchscreen device. But what is the best Android card game?

In our search for the best Android card game, we’ve made this comprehensive list! Whether you’re looking for a great TCG or just a game of blackjack, we’ve got it all!

Best Android Card Game: Magic the Gathering: Arena

A brilliant conversion of one of the most popular TCGs out there, MTG: Arena mobile is fantastic. If you’re a fan of the tabletop game, you’ll love how Wizards of the Coast brought the game to life on mobile.

Of course Arena is not as complete as Magic the Gathering online. Arena, however, benefits from beautiful visuals; it doesn’t look like something you would put your taxes in.

Magic the Gathering has long been hailed as one of the best TCMs ever made. With MTG: Arena you can test that yourself. After all, it’s free to play!

If you want to try this game, follow this link to the Google Play Store. If you hate it, tell us in the comments below!

Gwent and Gwent: Rogue Mage

Gwent, which debuts in The Witcher 3, is a card game that took gamers by storm. A minigame that is so popular that it spawned a completely free-to-play game, Gwent is definitely a contender for the best Android card game.

For the multiplayer experience, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a fantastic virtual TCG. In addition, it still has an active player base and frequent updates. But what if multiplayer isn’t for you?

Well, enter Gwent: Rogue Mage, a recently released single-player roguelike based on the game. This is a top-notch experience, but it’s also worth the £8.99 entry fee.

In our opinion, you should give the original, free Gwent multiplayer game a try. If you like that, you can pick up Rogue Mage for some single-player battles! Honestly, we have such great ideas.

Ascension Day

If you like Magic the Gathering, you’ll probably like Ascension too. Created by a team of professional MTG players, Ascension is designed to be the best Android card game ever. Are you succeeding? Not quite, but supporting small teams is always nice.

Ascension lacks the visual brilliance of other competitors. Unfortunately, the images look more like Magic Online than Arena. (That means it looks pretty bare.)

Nevertheless, this is a strong contender for the best Android card game, but it is essentially just Magic. Not only is the gameplay similar, but even the art style does its best to mimic the original.

If you’re a Magic fan looking for an alternative, there’s definitely worse you could do. Check it out here.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel and Duel Links

Of the official Yu-Gi-Oh games available on Android, Master Duel is definitely one of the best. While we’d rather play something like Tag Force on the best Android PSP emulator, we can’t really put emulated games on a list of best Android card games.

If you like modern Yu-Gi-Oh, with Link Monsters and all, Master Duel is a strong recreation of the card game. It looks great, runs well and is really fun when you finally understand what’s going on.

However, Master Duel has a great learning curve. With so much mechanics put into the game over the past 20 years, there’s a lot to remember. Combine that with thousands of cards and you have a lot of studying ahead of you.

On the other hand, there are other games in the series to try if Master Duel is too complex. For example, Duel Links is a much simpler TCG based on informal Speed Duel rules. Depending on what you are looking for, there is fun to be had.

Legends of Runeterra

If you are a fan of Riot Games’ League of Legends, then this is probably the best Android card game for you. A lighter, friendlier Magic the Gathering style TCG, this is one of the most popular Android card games for a reason.

The best thing about Runeterra is the presentation. It’s not on the level of MTG Arena, but it’s a very polished and fun alternative. It also features League of Legends characters.

Runeterra is loved for its addictive Magic-like gameplay, as well as for its progression system. Essentially, Runeterra feels decent, not like it’s trying to extort you from every cent. Yes, there is still a lot of money to be made, but you can easily do without it.

If that sounds interesting, maybe you should give it a try? Pst, we happen to have a link to the store page.

Map Crawl Adventure

Card Crawl Adventures is a sequel to the fantastic Card Crawl game and combines that game with Card Thief to create an awesome card-based roguelike. Damn, that sentence used the word “map” a lot!

Developed by Arnold Rauers, Card Crawl Adventure is a brilliant and beautiful card game on mobile. Filled with beautiful art, this indie card game is well worth your time.

The game is completely free to play with the base character. However, if you want to experience other characters, you have to pay for it.

At the end of the day, Card Crawl is a brilliant solitaire-style card game. We absolutely recommend that you pick it up. Where? Well, here of course.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection

As far as traditional card games go, Microsoft Solitaire Collection is a pretty good option on Android. It’s nowhere near the “best Android card game” level, but it’s definitely a must for those who like classic cards.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection is described as a game for children aged 8 to 108 and is exactly what it says it is: a collection of different types of Solitaire. This means you can experience five different types of the classic game.

From Spider to Klondike, this is pretty much exactly what you want from a solitaire game. It has a lot of solitaire to play! In any case, you can really go wrong here. Pick up here?
