We used to have a great time with the BenQ MOBIUZ EX3210U, it’s an excellent 32-inch 4K 144Hz gaming monitor that comes with a whole host of great features. Click here to learn more if you missed our thoughts on that particular monitor. What we have in the studio today is another model from the MOBIUZ series – get to know the BenQ MOBIUZ EX2710Ua 27-inch variant that takes up less space on your desk and is more wallet-friendly, while enjoying all the features that come with its 32-inch bigger brother.
Unpack and set up
The monitor comes in a sturdy cardboard box including all the following accessories:
- Charger
- HDMI 2.1 cable (1.8 m)
- DisplayPort cable (1.8 m)
- USB 3 upstream cable
The monitor can be set up by screwing the base into the neck first and then attaching it to the back of the monitor.
Honestly, I’m not a fan of this kind of triangular base because it’s not that practical. But again, it’s up to your personal preference and some may find it appealing.
It has tilt, height and swivel adjustments, except it doesn’t support vertical mode. If you want, there is always an option to mount the monitor on a monitor arm. Of course, if you have that requirement, otherwise general users who don’t need vertical mode will find the standard monitor stand sufficient.
Connectivity
As for the connections we have:
- 2x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1x 3.5mm audio pass-through
- 1x USB-B upstream port
- 4x USB-A downstream ports
The hole for the cable routing is quite large and once you are done connecting the cables, you can cover the monitor with the cover. I just don’t know why BenQ put all four USB-A ports on the back instead of separating two on the back and two on the side for easy access.
Outlook design and buttons
The MOBIUZ EX2710U shares the same design scheme as its bigger brother. The overall sleek design makes it a monitor that fits into all kinds of table settings and interior designs.
The back panel of the monitor is white and comes with four LED strips. You can configure the lighting mode and color in the OSD menu of the monitor. The OSD control buttons and joystick are located under the monitor frame, just next to the transparent power button.
The package also includes a remote control so you can sit back and relax while adjusting monitor settings such as speaker volume, HDR mode, input selection etc. In other words, it is the easiest way to navigate the OSD menu compared to the joystick .
Display
This is the main highlight of the MOBIUZ EX2710U, the display panel. This is a 4K 144Hz IPS panel with a 98% DCI-P3 color gamut. In other words, this panel is not only suitable for triple-A game titles, content creators can also take advantage of the color accuracy for video and photo editing.
It also has VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, especially suitable for the next-gen console gaming experience. Unique to the BenQ monitors are the HDRi modes. It’s a built-in HDR preset for those who like to tinker with the look and feel of the screen.
Game HDRi, as the name suggests, is suitable for game titles while Cinema HDRi is best for movies. Meanwhile, the standard Display HDR is best for all intents and purposes.
BenQ has created a dedicated button on the bottom right to quickly switch between the three HDR profiles that match your visual preference.
In addition, with a 4K resolution, the monitor also supports a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz for that silky smooth gaming experience. Perfect for triple-A titles on PC. For PS5 and XBOX Series X/S, the monitor will automatically adjust to support 4K 120Hz. If you own both a PC and a console, don’t worry as the monitor comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4. By connecting all your game devices to the monitor, you can easily switch between the PC and the console at the touch of a button.
The MOBIUZ EX2710U can also store different quick menus and display settings for each individual display input. For example, you can configure the HDMI 1 for PS5 with a Racing display profile and Standard mode for the PC. Whenever you change the display source, the monitor automatically loads the preset to suit your viewing preferences.
While this may not be the main feature of the MOBIUZ series, BenQ has also included its own Eye-Care technology with the MOBIUZ EX2710U. The sensors under the front bottom bezel detect your ambient light and automatically adjust the screen brightness to improve your viewing comfort. Personally, I’m in the habit of using the computer in a constantly lit environment, so I’d calibrate the screen to that standard and leave it that way.
Entertainment (audio)
While I usually don’t touch a monitor’s speaker because they can be used as a backup speaker at best, the MOBIUZ EX2710U is different. In fact, I can say that this built-in 2.1 stereo sound system, powered by treVolo, is quite unique. Thanks to the special subwoofer mounted on the back of the monitor, the sound quality is miles better than the standard speakers of other monitors. The monitor also contained a number of audio presets for various purposes, such as racing games, movies, music, and more.
This is great for those looking for a clean desktop setup without having to go through all the speaker cables. In addition, the speaker is suitable for everyday use when the user is not using headphones. In addition, the monitor also has a built-in microphone for online conference calls.
Conclusion
Having experienced both BenQ MOBIUZ 32-inch and 27-inch 4K gaming monitors, I’m really impressed with all the features BenQ has packed into the lineup. They also have different resolutions, refresh rates, screen sizes, and a choice between the flat or curved panel. The BenQ EX2710U costs RM 3,999.
