Introduction
The Asus ROG Delta S Wireless aims to cut the cord on the brand’s standout Delta headsets to bring the convenience of wireless connectivity.
The market is flooded with plenty of premium gaming headsets, so it can be quite difficult for the Delta S Wireless to differentiate itself far enough from the competition.
The price is high, with a suggested retail price of $170, which makes it a good fit for the competition, but can those good looks translate into outstanding performance? Let’s find out.
Design and Features
- Wear-resistant plastic construction
- Excellent compatibility
- Very comfortable
The Asus ROG Delta S Wireless is a great looking headset. It combines minimalist styling with the trademark aggressive design of ROG products, as evident in the D-shaped ear cups.
It’s mostly plastic, though it comes with a metal-reinforced headband for an extra bit of durability. Considering the high price, a bit of metal would have been nice, such as the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless features, to remind you that the headset is more of a premium product. Nevertheless, the plastics used feel durable and wear-resistant.
You won’t find any RGB lighting here, which might turn off some people, but that goes along with the minimalist look that the Delta S Wireless has.
The padding is mostly excellent, with the standard protein leather ear cups, although I feel like there could have been a little more around the headband. All the padding combined to provide great passive noise isolation, while a weight of 318g means it feels substantial but remained light enough to keep it comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
If you’re willing to swap the bundled protein leather earcups for another set, Asus has been generous enough to throw in a second pair; they are made of a more breathable foam mesh. Personally, I preferred this during testing, even if the leather ones felt a little softer, especially considering I was testing this headset during a heat wave.
As far as multimedia controls go, the Delta S Wireless has a good selection. There’s a USB-C port, in addition to a connectivity selector (Bluetooth or 2.4GHz wireless), as well as a volume rocker and a modest button that controls media playback.
When it comes to compatibility, the Delta S Wireless works with pretty much everything here. It works with both Bluetooth and the 2.4GHz USB receiver (either USB-C or USB-A with the adapter), thus providing wireless support for almost any mainstream gaming device, except the Xbox due to the Xbox Wireless requirement. . However, you can use a wired connection instead, which increases compatibility even further.
A 25-hour battery life with the Delta S Wireless is also good enough for the price, and using the headset for a week or so managed to easily match that figure.
Sound and microphone quality
- Clear audio with decent power
- Virtual surround sound makes the difference
- Somewhat iffy mic, even with AI noise cancellation enabled
Sound quality for a gaming headset is paramount and the Delta S Wireless sounds pretty good.
The 50mm drivers provide great audio, with a particularly fantastic soundstage, given the drivers’ position further away from your ears with the thick earcups. The mids felt nice and punchy, while the highs were sparkling and clear. And while this headset brings in a fair amount of bass, it did feel a little hollow at times with a slight lack of power and impact.
Virtual surround sound is offered, as made possible by Armory Crate software, and it certainly makes a difference. The sense of placement when chasing enemies while playing Sniper Elite V was much better than when it was off, while also allowing more bass from the Delta S Wireless to come through.
You’ll also find Asus’ decent Armory Crate software, which offers fantastic customizations including turning on the surround sound, playing with EQ settings and even adding reverb to audio, which is a rare feature.
The microphone is not the usual detachable or retractable boom type you see on other headsets and is instead inside the headset. It is one of Asus’ AI Beamforming options, as used in the ROG Fusion II 500.
Overall, it offers decent pickup with generally good clarity, although I struggled to notice the difference the noise cancellation made. During testing, the microphone still picked up my keyboard sounds, especially my desk fan.

Should you buy it?
You want incredible compatibility:
If you’re looking for an all-rounder when it comes to compatible devices, the Delta S Wireless won’t disappoint.
You want a great microphone:
While the Delta S Wireless’s fit and sound may be fantastic, the microphone is a little thin, so you may want to look elsewhere for top-notch communications.
Final Thoughts
The Asus ROG Delta S Wireless is a fantastic wireless gaming headset with a refined yet gamer-friendly aesthetic. It’s also very comfortable, especially with the choice of ear cups on offer. It sounds great with some good detail and punchy mids, alongside some twinkling highs, while the 25 hour battery life provides good staying power for those marathon gaming sessions.
Not every headset is perfect, though, and the Delta S Wireless falls into the same trap as other similarly priced candidates with a thin mic that lets in a little background noise, and software that, while functional, can seem a little light compared to other suites.
