ANC leaders in KwaZulu-Natal have visited former President Jacob Zuma at his home in Nkandla to seek advice and wisdom.

Zuma is currently serving the remainder of his 15-month sentence at home after being paroled last September.

Newly elected provincial chairman Sibonelo Duma said they have come to seek advice and wisdom on issues affecting the nation.

After the visit, Duma said the leaders wanted Zuma’s vision on how to create unity.

Zuma, according to the ANC KZN, as a former head of state and party leader, is in a good position to offer guidance.

“We discussed, among other things, the issue of nation-building. [We spoke about] stuff [on] how to make sure you give back what belongs to the people of KwaZulu-Natal, the wealth of the economy and the country,” said Duma.

Zuma also apparently advised the leadership on promoting unity in the party.

It is critical for the ANC to have unity in KZN, as it is the party’s largest constituency.

“He also just advised us on how to unite the province,” Duma told News24.

The ANC KZN will continue to draw experience and guidance from other former party leaders.

Earlier this month, the Duma and his leadership visited former President Thabo Mbeki.

At the time, leadership said the meeting would be the first of many it hoped to undertake in its efforts to seek political wisdom.
