After COVID-19 delayed half of all video games, 2022 will feature many games that have been delayed from their original 2020 or 2021 release dates. The second half of 2022 is packed with new video game releases, and August is no exception. August 2022 brings dozens of new video games, including the highly anticipated Saints Row reboot, Massive Monsters Cult of the Lamband the latest episode in the Madden NFL franchisee. Early August saw the incredibly successful release of the indie horror game The morgue assistantwhere players intern at River Fields Mortuary with an occult twist.
Until now, 2022 has included the release of big hit titles such as: Pokemon Legends: ArceusThe hugely successful FromSoftware Elden Ringand Horizon Forbidden Westthe sequel to the award-winning 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn. Undoubtedly, the highly anticipated 2022 title has yet to be released and despite many rumors suggesting that the god of war sequel could be delayed until 2023, Sony has finally announced God of War Ragnarok coming early November.
Unfortunately, several of the biggest titles of 2022 have now been shifted to 2023, demonstrating the ongoing impact of the pandemic on the gaming industry. Earlier this year, just ahead of its big joint conference with Xbox, Bethesda recently announced that two of its highly anticipated titles, starfield and redfallbe delayed until 2023. One of the most anticipated sequels of all time, Breath of the Wild 2was also slated for a 2022 release, but has now been delayed to spring 2023. Despite these setbacks, 2022 still promises to deliver a wealth of new game content.
