EA DICE’s Battlefield first-person shooter franchise is one of the most popular in the industry. The first part – Battlefield 1942 was published in 2002. Since then, a total of about a dozen games have been produced under the Battlefield name.

Unlike other popular FPS games, such as Call of Duty, Battlefield emphasizes cooperation and coordination to achieve the objectives. This is a multiplayer focused gaming series. Military vehicles such as trucks, artillery, tanks and even airplanes play an important role in Battlefield games. Here’s a list of all of Battlefield’s games in chronological order. Please note that expansion packs will not be added to the list. So enjoy the series.

1. Battlefield 1942

Release Date – September 10, 2002
Supported Devices – Windows, Mac OS X

The beast gaming series started in the year 2002. The game takes place during World War II and covers all major battlefields. Assault, Anti-Tank, Medic, Engineer and Scout are the five categories of infantry that can be taken as their role by the players.

2. Vietnam Battlefield

Release Date – March 14, 2004
Supported Devices – Windows

The gameplay remained the same in the second game of the series. A few new ideas made their way to the show, including the ability for passengers to fire from the sides of their vehicles and the use of airlifts to get their vehicles into battle.

3. Battlefield 2

Release Date – June 21, 2005

Even though it’s called ‘Battlefield 2’, it really is the third sequel after ‘Battlefield Vietnam’. Despite being one of the oldest games in the series, it is loved by many online players.

4. Battlefield 2 – Modern Battles

Release date: October 24, 2005
Supported Devices: PS2, Xbox, Xbox360

The only expansion for Battlefield 2 called “Modern Combat” was released in 2006. It was the first game in the series to be released on a console such as PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. A new single-player campaign has been added to the game. The story revolves around a fictional conflict in Kazakhstan involving China and NATO.

5. Battlefield 2142

Release date: October 17, 2006
Supported Devices: PC, Mac OS X

The quality of Battlefield 2142 was closer to Battlefield 2, but better. It had a kind of science fiction genre to it. The game was released with the aim of a fast-paced shooter with fictional weapons in the battle between a Pan-Asian coalition and an EU alliance.

6. Battlefield: Bad Company

Release date: June 23, 2008
Supported devices: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

The sixth major release of the series was Battlefield: Bad Company. This is the only Battlefield game to date made only for consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In addition to this game, every game in the series has also been released for Windows.

7. Battlefield: Heroes

Battlefield Heroes was released on Windows PC in 2009. Aesthetically, it looked more like a Fortnight game than a Battlefield game.

8. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Release date: March 2, 2010

This is the eighth Battlefield game overall and the second in the Bad Company series. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 came out almost exactly two years after the first. Bad Company 2 has wonderful sights and activities, set in a post-World War II scenario.

9. Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 was the successor to Bad Company 2 in the Battlefield series. Many people consider Battlefield 3 their favorite in the series, and they’re not wrong at all.

10. Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 is the next title in the series. This game was released after nearly 2 years of Battlefield 3. Battlefield 4 improved some multiplayer gameplay components by building on the foundation of its predecessor.

11. Battlefield Hardline

Release date: March 17, 2015

The emphasis in this series shifted from military to civil war with Battlefield Hardline. Compared to its predecessors, this game focuses on policing and raiding rather than conflict, insurrection or invasion by military forces.

12. Battlefield 1

13. Battlefield V

14. Battlefield 2042

The latest game in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 2042, was released in 2021. It is set in the future and features futuristic weapons and gadgets. The ability to airdrop anywhere and personalize weapons during gameplay are two of the game’s many new features.
