Bleach has quite a number of characters, from the friendly and bubbly Orihime to the cold and down-to-earth Byakuya. With such memorable moments from this large cast of characters, there’s a lot of nuance about whose backstory is sadder or whose motives are justified.
The characters of Bleachare unique in both personality and memorability, but there are those that are irreparable in both respects. With such a battle-heavy series as Bleachthere’s no doubt that many characters are notorious for their terrible actions, and these nine stand out from the rest for all the wrong reasons.
9 Big Fisherman
Grand Fisher is usually the first name that comes up when it comes to terrible actions. As the culprit behind the murder of Ichigo’s mother, it’s an understatement to say that Grand Fisher and the Kurosaki family have bad blood.
Not only is this Hollow extremely predatory, but he has absolutely no qualms about using his lures to imitate his opponent’s dead loved ones; such was the case when Grand Fisher’s bait took the form of Ichigo’s mother to lower Ichigo’s vigilance. Even after he came back as Arrancar, taking revenge on Ichigo for his previous defeat was Grand Fisher’s only priority.
Like Grand Fisher, Metastacia was a particularly ruthless Hollow, who had consumed several Soul Reapers without the slightest hint of remorse. When Kaien Shiba asked him if he was sorry, Metastacia replied sarcastically that he had not eaten his wife’s head or torso.
After battling Kaien for a while, Metastacia eventually merged with him and attacked Rukia and Ukitake. Not hesitant to use Kaien’s likeness against them, he relentlessly beats back Rukia and an illness-stricken Ukitake while bragging about how his fusion with Kaien is permanent.
7 Numb Chandelier
Unlike most Hollows, Numb Chandelier preferred not to fight herself due to her physically weak stature. Instead, she chose to use her Bulb Scatter technique to possess other people, including Orihime’s friends, to do her dirty work and kill each other.
During her encounter with Orihime, Numb Chandelier had her proxies brutalize her as she reveled in her suffering. When Tatsuki tried to stop her, Numb Chandelier became enraged and began possessing and torturing Tatsuki, prompting Orihime to wake her Shun Shun Rikka and fight back.
6 Aaroniero Arrurruerie
Aaroniero had no qualms about posing as those closest to his opponents, a trait he gained by absorbing the body-grabbing Metastacia. This was the case during his fight with Rukia, in which he imitated the late Kaien Shiba to trick Rukia into making her hesitate.
After his ruse was exposed, Aaroniero wasted no time trying to retake Kaien’s form, knowing that doing so would make Rukia lose the will to fight. Ironically, this action would lead to his death, as Aaroniero was unable to explain why Rukia had regained her courage to take down her mentor’s likeness.
5 Nnoitra Gilga
Nnoitra can easily be spotted as one of the more bloodthirsty Espada members in the series, to the point where he’ll do whatever it takes to win against a stronger opponent. From his chauvinistic attitude and sneaky attack on Nelliel to his underhanded tactics against Ichigo and Grimmjow, unfair fighting is clearly the norm in Nnoitra’s eyes.
Although Nnoitra wants to be recognized as the strongest by his opponents, as evidenced by his with Kenpachi, his dishonest tactics on the battlefield make this sentiment of his very hypocritical. As a result, Nnoitra’s lack of respect for those around him makes him quite heartless.
4 Yammy Llargo
Speaking of heartless, another such member of the Espada would be Yammy, a hulking Arrancar who initially wears the number 10. Yammy’s brutality is such that he will attack others around him for no reason; at one point, his very first action after reattaching his arm was to kill the healer!
In battle, Yammy will not hesitate to inflict horrific wounds on his opponents, a trait he retains once he lets go of his Zanpakuto. While he respects his senior Espada members, this respect is completely wasted once he reveals his true rank as the Cero Espada.
3 Kaname Tosen
The blind Kaname’s creed to take the path of least bloodshed may be admirable, but his actions completely contradict what he stands for. In addition to knowing the sacrifices Aizen had to make to make the King’s Key, he had no qualms about attacking his fellow members of the Ninth Division, even hollowing out his own superiors.
Kaname’s defection from Soul Society drove a wedge between him and the like-minded Sajin Komamura, whom he befriended before his betrayal. When he could see physically, Kaname’s hubris eventually got the best of him, ironically making him more blind to his actions than before.
2 Loly Aivirne
Loly, one of Aizen’s assistants after he defected from Soul Society, becomes angry with Orihime for the amount of attention the latter received from Aizen. This jealousy finally came to a head when she and her boyfriend Menoly entered Orihime’s rooms and started attacking her.
When Orihime heals Loly’s injuries after Grimmjow’s intervention, Loly’s hatred for her grew to the point of calling her a monster. After Aizen deemed Orihime no longer necessary, Loly wasted no time continuing to abuse her. Even her friend Menoly is not spared from her abuse, as Loly has no qualms about beating her for not agreeing to her plans.
1 Koga Kuchiki
While Koga Kuchiki may be a filler character, his actions during the Zanpakuto Unknown Tales arc are as irredeemable as any canon villain on this list. Driven by everyone’s perceived resentment against his power, Koga sought revenge on those who wronged him when he realized they showed no remorse for accusing him of murder.
As Koga’s madness grew, he eventually turned to killing innocent people in hopes of sending a message to Soul Society. Even Muramasa, his Zanpakuto spirit, was not spared the effects of his madness, as Koga would abuse him for contempt and eventually break their bond after they were released from his captivity.
