The way movies are edited is the result of Martin Scorsese’s groundbreaking masterpiece Taxi Driver, which explored the psychology of its lead character. Since their debut, video games have progressed significantly and their stories are now as complex as those in movies. There are several video games that incorporate Taxi Driver’s themes, be it open-world games such as Grand Theft Auto or story-driven storylines such as Cyberpunk 2077. There are many great games available for fans of Scorsese’s masterpiece, despite the fact that there are has never been a game that is a direct adaptation of the movie. The 25th Ward: The Silver Case was initially a smartphone game, but eventually made its way to other platforms and was still played years after its initial release. The newly built 25th Ward and its various criminal factions are the focus of a number of interconnected stories in the game.

Driver: Parallel Lines

The film’s story is heavily centered around Travis Bickle’s work as a taxi driver, and the story of Driver: Parallel Lines is also heavily centered around driving. In the game, the player takes control of a man seeking retribution from the gang he once served as a driver for. Spanning many eras, the game has a significant portion set in the 1970s, and those scenes have a classic taxi driver vibe to them. The Driver is one of the best open-world PlayStation 2 games, allowing players to further immerse themselves in the character’s quest for revenge by letting them explore the story at their own pace.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight is as rugged as New York City in the 1970s, right down to the neon streets of Gotham City. The superhero must create new technologies after taking out his nemesis, the Joker, to take on a group of villains who plan to fill the void. Arkham Knight was the conclusion to the entire Arkham series, preserving the exciting open-world design of the earlier games. The game beautifully portrays Batman’s loneliness, and Bats and Travis Bickle share several vigilante traits. It all comes down to perception, and while Bickle and Batman see themselves as heroes, many other fantastic side characters from the Batman: Arkham series may not be.

lost judgment

Lost Judgment spawned a complex web that covered serious topics, showing how far video game storytelling has come in recent years. The main protagonist of the game is a private detective looking for a man accused of murdering many bullies at a nearby school.

Mad Max

While Taxi Driver and the Mad Max video game have completely different aesthetics, they both involve the same concepts. Through an open-world action-RPG-like experience, the game recreates the barren post-apocalyptic landscape seen in the movies. In his urban setting, Travis Bickle deals with loneliness and isolation, and Max’s persona pushes those concepts to the extreme. In many ways, Bickle saw the world the same way as the wasteland, a hostile place where almost everyone is an enemy. Although it was not well received when it was first released, many people now think that the 2015 Mad Max game was underrated and have given it another chance.

The escape

The Getaway developed its own look and garnered its own following, despite initially being labeled a GTA clone. The main character of the game is a man who has to work for the mafia again after the kidnapping of his son by the mobsters. The game’s urban landscapes are different, but they nonetheless have a very familiar, alienating atmosphere reminiscent of movies like Taxi Driver. To get his son back, Mark Hammond must resort to violence, and moral boundaries begin to blur. After the tasks are completed, the player is free to explore the cards, allowing them to more fully immerse themselves in the character’s setting and state of mind.
