Mascots are important because they enhance the face of a brand. In video games, there are many different types of mascots. Some mascots represent series or franchises, while others represent a wave of consoles and many more. Initially, there were only a few mascots in gaming, but as the gaming industry grew, so did the number of mascots representing different titles and brands.

The mascots on this list are the ones that have a productive style and symbolize the product they represent well. The mascots do not have to be the most popular in the world, but arouse a lot of intrigue around them.

10/10 Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot is now more associated with its series of games. There was a time when he was associated with Naughty Dog Studio as what many thought was their main mascot, but that quickly ended. The great thing about Crash is that a lot of admiration has arisen for him since his creation.

He appeared on so many consoles that several players undoubtedly bumped into him, but not always in the best light as some games were terrible. When the remakes of the originals were released, many streamers played through the difficult levels, pushing Crash even further out.

9/10 Big Daddy

The Big Daddy is iconic for the BioShock game series and also for the books. What makes Big Daddy so special is that it doesn’t feel like anything bad in the series. It’s colossal and menacing, but like a bear, its prominent hulking figure has something sweet until it tries to kill players. Once it does, it becomes a terrifying, almost mechanical-like killing machine.

The dichotomy in it breeds love in players. The player’s ability to play as one in BioShock 2 made everyone love 2k games to feed the fans what they wanted. If the series were bigger, this mascot would definitely gain traction.

8/10 Kirby

Kirby is the mascot of his series. He’s one of the most simply designed mascots on this list, but that also makes him one of the cutest. Kirby shows that one doesn’t have to create the most intricate design in the world to make something interesting.

What makes Kirby so sweet is his ability to transform into the items he consumes. This adds a lot of different effects that can be added to Kirby’s figure. There is an endless amount of options that come with the Kirby Mascot.

7/10 Sonic

Sonic grew in popularity as the series grew into a franchise. This makes sense as they have done nothing but their best to make the fans happy. When most people didn’t like how Sonic originally looked in the Sonic movie, they made the Sonic movie push back and fix it. This probably gave Sonic a big boost in the media and made him a household name.

Plus, so many great Sonic games have come out, creating more die-hard fans of the series. His face is associated not only with himself, but with all things Sega.

6/10 Sweet tooth

Sweet Tooth is the face of the Twisted Metal series. He is a mass murdering clown who has been on the cover of almost every Twisted Metal game. The funny thing about Sweet Tooth is that his name is Marcus Kane, and his nickname is Needles. Sweet Tooth is the name of this character’s murderous ice cream truck.

The Twisted Metal series features dark, gory images. It also has large-scale car fights, so it only makes sense that the mascot would be a creepy clown man.

5/10 Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong is iconic for several reasons. He appears in many of his games that feature adventures that are quite different from his platforming counterparts. While Mario games seemed more based on a great sense of adventure and interesting mechanics, Donkey Kong games, especially Donkey Kong Country games, focused on simple mechanics and timing.

Donkey Kong’s folly and his quest for bananas make him a fan favorite. He is also strongly associated with Nintendo as one of Mario’s first villains.

4/10 Pocket Boy

Sackboy feels like a stuffed animal that everyone would want to have as a kid. He has a lot of flair in himself in how he portrays a plethora of emotions unlike many of the other mascots on this list. He was a mascot representing the LittleBigPlanet series, but also the PlayStation 3 at the time.

The release of this game has brought Sony out of the water for a while. So it’s understandable why the little guy gets so much love. Sackboy brings back nostalgia to many people who have played the series. He’s also a mascot that anyone can enjoy if anyone ever gets their hands on one of his games.

Link represents The Legend of Zelda and everything it is known for. Link had many versions of himself. In his story, he is constantly reincarnated and goes through the timelines on the same quest. The settings in the world of the Left are unparalleled. The beauty of the games makes players want to know more about the main character.

There are plenty of dungeon crawlers out there, but playing as Link and venturing into the unknown feels unique in its own right.

2/10 Moogle

Moogles are a big part of Square Enix, as they’ve appeared in almost every Final Fantasy title except Final Fantasy I, II, and IV – every other game in the entire series, including spin-offs. They can also be seen as the faces of synthesizing items in the Kingdom Hearts games.

Moogles are great to come across because they’re cute and always seem to have some sort of advantage that varies depending on the game they’re in. It’s hard to imagine that there will ever be another Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts game without it.

1/10 Mario

Mario has been a representation of so many things over the years and it’s hard to take anything away from his fame. Mario is iconic for himself as the games released with him as the central protagonist never disappoint. He is the face of his own games, but also the face of Nintendo. Every time someone sees him, they’re sure to think of Nintendo as he’s actually been with them for as long as they’ve been around.

Mario also has the added benefit of being the face of the platform genre for many people. If the Mario games had never been made, the platform genre probably wouldn’t have been where it is today.
