Think how many times a 50/50 ball is thrown in? Madden NFL 23. 99% of the time this is an incomplete pass or an interception. the odds are so bad that gamers try their best to avoid the circumstance altogether. What if, before these handfuls of tosses, the receiver comes down with the ball?
In that situation, players would be much more open to taking risks in Madden NFL 23. For some players, it’s not even risky. Elite wide receivers can jump higher than those they cover, resulting in an edge that pros will abuse until they win or stop their opponent.
10 Amari Cooper – 90 ALGO
Between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys, Amari Cooper has had no problem proving he’s a star, even when surrounded by other stars. The Cleveland Browns have grabbed Cooper and hope he will do what Odell Beckham Jr couldn’t do in Cleveland.
If Cooper can maintain his game, the Browns will finally be playoff tied after a disappointing year last season. They’re gearing up for a special team in Cleveland and Cooper is a big part of their strategy going forward.
9 Terry McLaurin – 91 ALGO
Terry McLaurin had such an immediate impact that he became a starter in training camp despite coming in 76th overall. McLaurin’s talent and work ethic have always been apparent to his coaches and teammates. But why is he so high, despite barely above average stats?
The truth is hard for Washington Commander fans; the team around McLaurin is just not that good. With a quarterback situation in a seemingly permanent state of flux, fans of McLaurin can only hope his team doesn’t waste its potential.
8 Keenan Allen – 91 ALGO
Since 2017, Keenan Allen hasn’t missed a single Pro Bowl nod. Some mistakenly attribute this to Justin Herbert as quarterback, but Allen’s Pro Bowl streak began three years before Herbert arrived in Los Angeles.
Allen is a versatile player who poses a threat everywhere. On a short ramp or a deep bomb, he finds it comfortable to turn on the jets and leave the cover behind in a puff of smoke.
7 Mike Evans – 92 ALGO
Here’s a fascinating statistic: In the eight seasons Mike Evans has played in the league, he hasn’t failed once to hit 1,000 yards in a season. That’s a surprising consistency, but the fact becomes even more shocking when you consider that this includes quarterbacks from Mike Glennon, Josh McCown, Jameis Winston, and of course Tom Brady.
Last year, Evans finished second in the league in receiver touchdowns, marking a career highlight for him. He still has Brady at the helm and without Gronkowski at the end may have even more chances in the red zone.
6 Justin Jefferson – 93 ALGO
This feels a little low on the list for Justin Jefferson, who was second to Cooper Kupp last season in terms of yardage. Call it the annual football rumor mill in full swing, but there’s more than just whispers hinting that Jefferson could rise by the end of this season.
Jefferson uses every tool that has a receiver, between speed, trail running, hands and toughness. The young player is already an annual lock to make the Pro Bowl, somehow this rating seems more like a floor than a ceiling.
5 Stefon Diggs – 95 ALGO
Between Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen, it’s clear that Stefon Diggs makes every quarterback who throws at him better. He’s lively, to be sure, with plays as flashy as the album cover for the game. But the raw numbers of the teams in which he plays don’t lie.
His teammates also see their numbers increase when he draws extra cover. Since he can single-handedly destroy a defense’s game plan, it’s safe to say that the Bills just need a bit of luck before Buffalo can finally hoist a trophy.
4 DeAndre Hopkins – 96 ALGO
MCL and hamstring injuries significantly slowed down what was on pace last year to become a DeAndre Hopkins ages season. Despite diminishing odds over the season, Hopkins still finished as one of the league’s top receivers.
Since the franchise mode makes some crucial improvements, players can decide for themselves how much fun they have. Obtaining Hopkins can enhance any gamer’s experience with all the jump balls he gets in each game.
3 Tyreek Hill – 97 ALGO
When comparing this year madden until last year some things will change and others will stay the same. Tyreek Hill had a bit of both when his team went from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins, but his speed and acceleration are still a perfect 99.
Hill has been considered one of the fastest receivers in the league for some time now and Patrick Mahomes will miss him. If Tua Tagovailoa can control the deep ball, the Dolphins will be competing for much more than just a division title.
2 Cooper Kupp – 98 ALGO
Usually a rating of 98 OVR is a sign of respect. But in the case of Cooper Kupp, the rating of 98 borders on indignation. When predicting where the top rated players would rise, Kupp was a 99 consensus. That usually happens when putting together one of the best receiving seasons in NFL history.
If this sounds like whining for nothing, remember that last year Kupp led all receivers in every category and broke almost every season record in existence for wide receivers. It really was a once-in-a-lifetime thing to observe.
1 Davante Adams – 99 ALGO
At one point, pundits started looking at all the MVP awards for Aaron Rodgers and thought to himself, “How can this guy still complete so many tight passes?” The answer to their question? Davante Adams. When it comes to hands and trail running, he’s almost second to none.
That’s why this year Adams got the perfect 99 OVR, the only receiver to receive the designation. If his production continues for the Raiders in Las Vegas, he could hold onto the 99 OVR all season.
Madden NFL 23 will be released on August 15, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
