Expectations are high for Marvel’s Wolverine, which is understandable given the popularity of the character Insomniac Games will be focusing on and the success of the studio’s recent games. Not only has Logan received many iconic comics over the past few decades, but Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character in X-Men movies was very popular.

However, while Insomniac has plenty of source material to ensure it offers an audience-friendly game, it should look to forge its own path. logan it was a tremendous movie, and comic book fans love to see their favorite stories adapted, but the developer had already shown the strengths of doing something new through their Marvel’s Spider-Man Series. As such, although Marvel’s Wolverine can and should extract some things from other sources, Insomniac should strive to do its own thing.

Creating a never-before-seen look for Logan

one big thing about Marvel’s Spider-Man it was Peter Parker’s advanced suit. While there was initially some negativity surrounding the suit’s athletic look and the removal of the black spider symbol, fans eventually warmed up to the outfit, with some even seeing it as their all-time favorite Spidey design. The Advanced Suit’s biggest strength is that it’s distinctly Insomniac, meaning that whenever Marvel fans see that big white symbol, they know which version of the hero they’re looking at.

With the decision to give Peter a totally original suit in Marvel’s Spider-Manthe developer should not miss the opportunity to do the same with Marvel’s Wolverine. While yellow and blue or yellow and brown color combinations can be reused, the developer should shake things up. Whether it’s altering Logan’s mask or changing the color that goes with the yellow part of the design, it would be fun to see the studio make a totally original costume the main costume. Marvel’s Wolverine.

Giving Logan a New Story in Marvel’s Wolverine

Instead of Insomniac Games ripping a story out of the comics with Marvel’s Spider-Man, he told his own story about a seasoned version of the friendly neighborhood hero. This proved to be a huge strength, as players were thrown into a universe where Peter had broken up with MJ, worked with Doc Ock for a while, and established a working relationship with the police. By creating a totally original tale, Insomniac can surprise players once again, something it has undoubtedly done with Marvel’s Spider-Manheartbreaking end.

A similar approach can be taken with Marvel’s Wolverine. While Insomniac should obviously use some of Logan’s iconic friends and foes, their versions of these characters should be unique, similar to Tinkerer in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Speaking of Miles Morales, Insomniac might surprise the characters by introducing another Wolverine during Logan’s story. Perhaps X-23 could be discovered as part of the narrative, with the character eventually leading his own spin-off game further down the line.

Although this ran the risk of being too similar to the The last of us and other games that follow the parent-child storytelling trend, featuring a slightly older version of X-23 could prevent that from happening. She could feel more like a friend to Logan than a daughter, being a suitable ally who can fend for herself instead of needing constant protection. The question of where the X-Men are must also be answered, as fans have no idea if the game takes place before, after, or during Logan’s stint with the group. No matter what kind of story Insomniac tells, the developer should aim to deliver a version of Logan that feels like his own creation, rather than what fans have seen over and over again.

Marvel’s Wolverine is currently in development for PS5.
