In this This Week In Gaming session, in the direction of hardware news, the Xbox Series X|S surprisingly overtook PlayStation sales in Japan. Sony is based in Japan, so knowing the Xbox has sold out domestically was more of a psychological than an economic one. The increase in Xbox sales is a pleasant surprise, as the first Xbox One barely sold 100,000 units throughout its life.
Xbox Series X|S lifetime total is now up 260,504 units in total. The next-gen Xbox consoles will surpass their predecessors in about nine years if the current trend continues. The lagging PlayStation sales can be attributed to hardware shortages that hit Sony the hardest.
