So far, 2022 has been a very good year for racing games.
Gran Turismo 7 is a wonderful comeback, despite a few bugs in the beginning.
Supercars that can be driven also appear in F1 22 along with newly built F1 cars that handle very differently.
GRID Legends is horribly underrated if you’re into low-key arcade racing, as it was unfairly overshadowed by GT7.
This year we have also had some excellent independent racers. Slipstream is a beautiful tribute to classic arcade racing, while Redout 2 is the blazing fast game closest to a new WipEout release.

Racing games coming in the second half of 2022
Several of the racing games that the gaming community has probably been looking forward to most have been delayed until 2023. The release of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has been delayed until sometime in 2023, contrary to initial expectations.
Microsoft stated that Forza Motorsport would launch on Xbox Series X in the spring of 2023 rather than later this year. In addition, delayed until 2024, is the highly anticipated official British Touring Car Championship game.
In the second half of 2022, there will be a ton of new racing games to look forward to, including WRC Generations and F1 Manager 2022. Check out the exciting list below:
Turbo Golf Racing
Release date: August 4
Imagine if Rocket League was a game of golf. Turbo Golf Racing is a brand new arcade sports racer that Hugecalf Studios is currently creating. Up to eight players combine crazy golf with turbocharged cars to race to get the ball in the hole first by driving, jumping and spinning their cars into a huge ball.
Power cores, a type of power-up that gives players unique powers such as boosting, hitting the ball further and flying faster, also encourage tactical play. Balanced, this might be the best racing game since Rocket League. It looks very nice.

F1 manager 2022
Release date: August 31
F1 management games are about to enter a new era. F1 manager 2022, which will be released in August, is one of the most exciting video games in recent memory for F1 fans. F1 Manager 2022 puts you in the role of a team boss instead of the driver in the Codemasters F1 games.

CarX Street
Release date: September 8
CarX Street is a sequel to the popular mobile racing game CarX Drift Racing 2 and continues the CarX racing series. The TV show will go open world this time.
You race and drift through busy cities, winding mountain roads and coastal highways on a large map. Extensive tuning options also include pieces that deteriorate over time, which is uncommon in racing games.
CarX Street appears to be a contemporary spiritual successor to Midnight Club and Need for Speed Underground with a focus on street racing and vehicle customization. CarX Street will finally launch on iOS and Steam in September and is over a year in the making.

SBK 22
Release date: September 15
The SBK game series returns in September after a 10-year hiatus. Italian company Milestone, which has also created the MotoGP, MXGP and Monster Energy Supercross video games, is the team behind SBK 22.
Since SBK Generations in 2012, SBK 22 is the first fully licensed SBK game. It includes every rider, team and track during the 2022 Superbike World Championship.
The AI learning system emulates the performance and riding styles of real riders as you improve your bike and direct employees from your personal manager to your chief engineer.
While the MotoGP 22 looks remarkably identical, the SBK 22’s engines will feel significantly different as they are based on commercial versions adapted for racing, as opposed to MotoGP’s specifically designed racing vehicles.

WRC generations
Release date: October 13
Since WRC 5, the French studio’s debut title in 2015, Kylotonn’s WRC game series has improved significantly. However, WRC Generations is Kylotonn’s last WRC game before Codemasters takes over the official rally series next year and marks the end of an era this year.
The Rally1 vehicles of the 2022 season are premiering in WRC Generations and ushering in a new era of rallying. These new rally vehicles are significantly more powerful and will be challenging to drive due to their hybrid powertrains, which combine a 1.6-litre turbo and 100 kW engine to produce more than 500 horsepower.
To determine the fastest stage timing, you need to optimize the battery and electrical power. This introduces a new element of strategy. We can’t wait to give them a test drive.
WRC Generations, the final installment in the series, will be the most comprehensive rally game ever with 22 locations, 165 special stages, 37 historic rally cars and an enhanced career mode.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway
Release date: TBC October
Mascot kart races were popular in the past and Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway takes us back to those days. In the most recent Nickelodeon Kart Racer, characters like SpongeBob SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are expected to make a comeback. Every character in this game has voice acting, which gives them the much-needed individuality they lacked in the previous two games.
The 36 tracks, some with water areas where your kart or bike turns into a personal watercraft, as in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, are inspired by the Nickelodeon series.
Don’t expect Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 to remove Mario Kart from the top spot; instead, think of it as fun but unimaginative kart racing.

Need for speed 2022
Release Date: TBA November
Need for speed 2022 will be launched on Nov. 4, according to Henderson’s sources. According to recent rumors, the upcoming Need for Speed game will have hyper-realistic visuals.
This also includes anime features and the game is set in the fictional metropolis of Lake Shore City, which was influenced by Chicago. While there’s no official release date yet, it’s expected to release in November for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
We’re hopeful that Need for Speed 2022 will reboot the series now that Criterion Games is back in charge.
Stuntfest – World Tour
Release date: TBA late 2022
With its mix of racing, crashes and crazy stunts, Stuntfest – World Tour is like a mix between Wreckfest, Destruction AllStars and FlatOut.
In addition to conventional demolition derbies, Stuntfest lets you fly through the air, eject your hapless driver from the vehicle, and find shortcuts to your rivals’ advantage. We are reminded of the stunt minigames in FlatOut by the ragdoll mechanics.
Stuntfest, a game created by Pow Wow Entertainment, will launch on Steam Early Access later this year.

Disney Speedstorm
Release Date: TBA
In addition to Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3, more new family-friendly kart racing games are coming out this year. Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play kart racing game created by Gameloft, the company behind the well-known mobile racing game Asphalt. It features a diverse cast of Disney and Pixar characters, including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Mulan, Sully, Captain Jack Sparrow and more.
Each character has a special talent and the songs will take place in the realms of Pirates of the Caribbean, Monster Inc. and The Jungle Book.
When it launches on a number of platforms later this year, this Mario Kart alternative could be very popular as it is Disney licensed and free to play.

KartRider: Drift

Another free-to-play kart racing game that targets Mario Kart is called KartRider Drift. At first it appears to be a conventional Mario Kart clone with vibrant graphics, bizarre powerups and cute characters. The extensive character and vehicle customization system should help differentiate these kart races.
KartRider Drift, once planned as a limited-time Xbox exclusive, launches this year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC after a closed beta last year.

Dakar Desert Rally
Release Date: TBA
The Dakar Desert Rally, a sequel to Dakar 18, was unveiled in December and will feature over 30 stages and a large open world. Travel through dangerous terrain, from deep mud to steep desert dunes, in this challenging Dakar Rally inspired game.
A dynamic weather system with rain, sandstorms and a full day and night cycle makes the situation more difficult.
While unfortunately there have been no updates since the game’s announcement, the release of Dakar Desert Racing is still slated for 2022.

Heat Rally win
Release Date: TBA
There have been several independent racers with a vintage aesthetic, such as Horizon Chase Turbo and Hotshot Racing. Victory Heat Rally’s slick graphics and lightning-fast gameplay are meant to relive the heyday of classic sprite scale races like OutRun. We are reminded of the long forgotten Choro Q series, popularly known as Penny Racers outside of Japan, by the car designs.
Later this year, Victory Heat Rally is screaming at PC and Nintendo Switch after a successful Kickstarter funding campaign.
