NORFOLK, Virginia, July 29, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced its ESPN football package for the 2022 season, which includes 30 regular-season games on ESPN, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPN+ and one postseason appearance on ABC.
Seven nationally broadcast games are part of the MEAC’s ongoing agreement with ESPN. In addition, 23 regular-season MEAC football games are broadcast on the MEAC Digital Network on ESPN platforms, including all conference games and every home game of the MEAC member institution.
The Cricket MEAC/SWAC Football Challenge Kickoff brings with it Week 0 of the 2022 season, featuring Howard v Alabama State of the SWAC, broadcast live from Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on ESPN on Saturday, August 7 at 7:00 PM . 27.
The ESPNU/ESPN3 slate kicks off on Saturday, September 3 with the Duke’s Mayo Classic between North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T State, to be played in Charlotte, NC. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and then rebroadcast on ESPNU at 10:30 PM
Thursday, October 13, Morgan State will travel to Durham, NC to face North Carolina Central, live on ESPNU, and on Saturday, October 15, Howard will host Harvard of the Ivy League in a match shown live on ESPN3 and rebroadcast. on ESPNU.
On four of the final five weekends of the regular season, wildcard match-ups will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and rebroadcast on ESPNU. The first such weekend will be on Saturday, October 22 with either the North Carolina Central at South Carolina State match-up or Delaware State at Howard.
Saturday, November 5 is the MEAC’s second wildcard weekend, featuring either Delaware State in South Carolina State or Howard in North Carolina Central. That match-up will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and will be rebroadcast on ESPNU on Sunday, November 6 at a time to be determined.
One of three games will air on Saturday, November 12: Morgan State in Delaware State, South Carolina State in Howard or North Carolina Central in Norfolk State.
Saturday, November 19, the last day of the 2022 regular season, will be the final wildcard weekend, with Howard in South Carolina State’s Morgan State or Norfolk State shown live on ESPN3 and rebroadcast on ESPNU on Sunday, November 20 .
The Cricket Celebration Bowl concludes the season as the MEAC champion will face the SWAC champion at Mercedes Benz Stadium on Saturday, December 17 in Atlanta, Georgia. The match will be broadcast live on ABC at 12:00 p.m

The MEAC-ESPN agreement continues to add additional branding and exposure for the conference and its member institutions. The MEAC and ESPN have had a media rights agreement since 2005. The ESPN+ football games add to an already impressive lineup as ESPN hosts multiple regular season men’s basketball and softball games through ESPN networks. The MEAC Volleyball and Bowling Championship Finals are also broadcast on various ESPN platforms.
