Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes features a fantastic array of playable units to choose from in missions, and this guide covers some of the best units available in the Azure Gleam route. With powerhouses like Dimitri and Dedue, lightning-fast attackers like Felix and Sylvain, and incredibly powerful wizards like Annette and Mercedes, the route offers an excellent variety of units.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is an RPG and hack-and-slash game by Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, published by Nintendo. The game takes place in an alternate timeline, in the same world as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and follows a series of new possibilities created by the involvement of the new protagonist ‘Shez’.

Dimitric

Unsurprisingly, the King of Faerghus is one of the best units on the route, as well as being completely exclusive to the route. With excellent strength and access to his unique classes of High Lord and Great Lord, he rips through enemies with tremendous power. Dimitri has excellent stats for a physical fighter, and the Crest of Blaiddyd can greatly increase his martial arts damage at the cost of some added durability.

With the Hero’s Relic Areadbhar that offers excellent durability after his abilities are unlocked, and his King’s Might ability that further increases damage when flying enemies, he can easily smash enemy health bars. He also has decent agility and speed, giving him a reasonable awakening duration and critical rush damage, along with good recharge times for his powerful fighting skills.

His unique ability “Azure Lightning” imbues all his attacks with lightning for extra damage. He performs best in his unique classes of High Lord and Great Lord, although he is also a good Great Knight due to his solid stats.

end time

The king’s vassal and close friend Dedue is also an excellent unit in this route, with the power to rival Dimitris and defensive stats without equal. Dedue’s favorite class leads to Great Knight, and this is indeed a class where he really excels with his impenetrable defense stats and fantastic “Staunch Shield” ability which causes him to take hits while guarding to restore the warrior meter. Dedue can tank the worst the game has to offer and return just as much, with his unique “sloper” that allows him to turn strong attacks into explosive attacks for tons of extra damage.

Dedue lacks resistance and speed, making him a poor choice for spamming martial arts or dealing with mages, but he can traverse the battlefield surprisingly quickly as a mounted unit and his defensive stats mean nothing else can stop him. Players who find a weapon with Defense Factor on it (especially an axe) have struck gold, as this ability allows them to add his incredible defense stats to the damage calculation of his swings.

Felix

Felix, Duke of Fraldarius, is both the king’s greatest critic and one of his closest friends. Though he acts disinterested, he always has the well-being of Dimitri and the Kingdom in mind, and his first priority in battle is to protect his friends. In gameplay, he is a balanced fighter with a huge speed advantage thanks to his unique ability “Intense Velocity”, which allows him to increase his speed simply by dodging a mid-attack. This builds up several times until it begins to glow blue to indicate that its speed boost has reached its peak. This tremendous speed allows him to perform long combos in just moments and tear across the battlefield at a rapid pace.

As a natural swordsman, Felix excels in the Mortal Savant Class, although he can also be a fantastic trickster or even dancer. His excellent speed-boosting effect also goes very well with cavalry classes, and his balanced stats allow him to put most classes to good use.

Annette

Annette is a former School of Sorcery student and a singing enthusiast who applies her magical skills to the battlefield to great effect. With fantastic stats for magic and decent agility, speed, resistance and charm, she performs best as Gremory. She can unleash immensely powerful spells, with her natural spell list, including Abraxas for tearing through lines of enemies with light, and Excalibur for tearing flyers out of the sky with insurmountable power.

If she takes out 30 or more enemies with a special warrior (a pretty trivial feat for her), she gets a major damage boost for a while due to her “overachiever” ability, while “Courageous Aria” allows her to periodically unleash songs that provide a variety of buffs for themselves and nearby allies. Improvements to Courageous Aria range from speed boosts to elemental penetration to temporarily turning all hits into critical hits, making it a fantastically powerful ability. She can also learn Wind Assist, which allows her to amplify her allies’ strong attacks with the wind element, while recruiting as their adjutant, allowing her to play a supporting role.

Mercedes

Annette’s classmate and friend from the School of Sorcery, Mercedes is a kind soul with exceptional magical abilities to rival Annette. She has exceptional magic and resistance stats, with decent agility and charm too, making her a very solid Gremory. She can also become a fantastic archer with a magic bow, and her hidden ability can indeed be found in Bow Knight, giving her a higher chance of critical hits.

Her natural spell list includes devastating fire spells like Ragnarok, along with powerful healing spells like Fortify. With the Ichor Scroll Hero’s Relic, she can also cast Abraxas to rip through entire rows of enemies with light damage. Because she learns “Essence of Light” from the priest, who replaces all light-based attacks she performs with stronger variants, she is terrifyingly strong as a Bishop or Gremory, and her “Light Assist” ability allows her to use the strong pierce an ally’s attacks with light while assigned as their adjutant to provide additional healing.

Her “Radiant Love” ability allows her to destroy the field with an AOE light attack that deals damage to enemies and heals allies whose range and strength are exceptional, while “Live to Serve” causes all the healing magic that she used to heal her with the same amount that it healed her allies.

Along with the Ichor role, she can also equip the Rafail gem, which negates the effectiveness of specific types of damage against her, instead turning any damage that would be especially effective against her into neutral damage. It also makes her immune to all status effects and has a chance to nullify incoming attacks.

Rodrigues

Rodrigue, the former Duke of Fraldarius and the father of Felix, is an excellent unit with balanced statistics. He has a balanced growth in Power and Magic, which allows him to make equally good use of classes that depend on both. He also has pretty good resistance, allowing him to take hits from magic more easily than other units.

When using his unique “Martial Prowess” ability, he can increase his own damage, attack range, and recoil speed by simply pressing each button in a combo with the correct timing, quickly amplifying his abilities when in a player’s hands which is the time. His “Right-Hand Man” ability destroys critical hits and status effects when his HP is below 50%, while also preventing him from being knocked back during an attack, which can partner with weapons that decrease the user’s health in exchange for an advantage, like the Devil Axe.

Rodrigue performs very well as a Dark Bishop or as a Holy Knight or Dark Knight, where he can make the most of his range-extending unique ability.

Catherine

Thunder Catherine, one of the Knights of Seiros, is a truly fantastic swordsman that can be obtained halfway through the Azure Gleam route. Her unique “Twofold Ruin” ability allows her to increase her damage and cause all her attacks to strike twice for a period of time, allowing her to deal truly incredible damage with her combos and especially powerful martial arts.

She is equipped with Thunderbrand, a Hero’s Relic that allows her to use Foudroyant Strike. This martial art allows her to fire fast forward, break guards and deal lightning damage, and is extra effective against armored units. When Thunderbrand is upgraded, it gains an ability to reduce spell and martial arts cooldown times, allowing Catherine to unleash them with much greater regularity.

The “Fighting Spirit” ability she possesses greatly reduces her damage taken from enemies if she does not have a battalion or has no stamina, while the Crest of Charon has a 50% chance of significantly increasing the damage from her fighting skills . This makes Catherine exceptionally strong when she uses martial arts heavily, so her favorite classes of Swordmaster and Mortal Savant make perfect sense here.
